This news does not sit well with me. This was supposed to be a limited release and we had to pay a premium to get it. I'm sure the higher cost was also present to help offset the cost of releasing a blu-ray that is limited to 5000 copies. Now that they doubled that number of copies available (which makes this set less limited) they should slash the MSRP in half.

Really? I've had that DVD just sitting in my cabinet just collecting dust.....checks ebay listings

Edit: Just found it, and what do you know, it's in perfect condition, off to ebay!

To add to my comments, while I don't feel SF should have to knock the price down on the Limited Edition, I do think they should include something beyond the poster to add value to at least the first 2,000 sets that people ordered from SF's website as an act of goodwill and to reward those that continue to support them. Maybe as simple as having Barker sign the slipcase or a bonus soundtrack cd?

Same here.

The question of why the cost was $80 to begin with was thoroughly explained. Either the question of why it is still $80 has yet to be addressed, or the answer is opportunism, and blatant at that.
Forget lowering the price, it's never gonna happen. I can guarantee the thought never entered into the Scream Factory consciousness. If they respect their customers, they should be using some of the extra money they're making on the unlimited edition & making sure the audio, extras and disc compression are top notch.

I don't care if they get permission from Warners to press another 100,000 units (and you're absolutely correct; this extra 5,000 is pure opportunism & I'm giggling at the "graciously understood" line that they threw into their Facebook post). Just make sure that the product is serious quality instead of holding out your hands for all the cash you can get & releasing a disc with macroblocking and other assorted crap.

Well hopefully I can get a copy on Amazon now, so I can cancel my scream factory order. Don't want the poster at all. And would rather get this for a couple bucks cheaper since I have a bunch of amazon credit.

Glad to see more copies available. Hate that they put me in panic buy mode. Really wanted to wait for a review.

This can't be a blind buy for me anymore... I didn't mind paying that price because if I didn't like it I could of probably got my money back by selling it. Now that it's not "limited" anymore, I find it very hard to justify that price.

I am happy for the fans who missed it!

But it is STILL Limited ...but now its limited to 10,000 like many Anchor Bay DVDs used to be -5000 more buyers that will be glad to own this. And it will still sell quickly .. I swear it seems like people are against the next 5000 buyers of this release.. what the heck is the problem with people sheesh

We have no proof of this. The argument at hand is that, potentially, hundreds of "rare collectors" and "scalpers" may jump ship as a result of this move. Now, if that's true, and you're correct that this will sell quickly, how soon do you think a sellout happens? A week or two? More?

Who cares how long it takes to sell out ? I agree with what Bgart said - it could sell quickly, since 5000 did already...

There are just too many armchair comments concerned with this and there is no reason to be this way..

At least people have a chance to buy it - let the scalpers jump ship - we dont need them selling the movies for 100 times more than it is on Amazon or Shouts own website.

Yes we do have proof of this... straight from the horses mouth - Scream Factoy

"To say that we were caught by surprise over the frenzied demand for it would be an understatement. Preorders across the board went so quick that we almost had to post soon that we were sold out of the original 5,000 units. We sensed your concerns that would happen too.

We want to give as many fans of Clive Barker’s exceptional film the opportunity to purchase the set and so we went back to Warner Bros (since they have the rights to theatrical cut) and explained the situation. They graciously understood and so we can now officially tell you that we have expanded the number of units for the LIMITED EDITION SET to 10,000 total--which will all be numbered. Once they are sold out though, that will be it."

I'm sorry, but again, your argument is based on a much more Limited Edition than what we have now. It's unknown how many will cancel their orders now.

As for your claim people now have a chance to buy... uh, they always had a chance to buy. The Collector's Edition exists for a reason, and is NOT limited.

It's not really limited anymore. If it sells good they will just add another 5000 to it. You can't sell a two movie set (one of which sounds like its half finished with storyboards, missing audio and subtitles) for 80 bucks UNLESS it's really limited! They are treading new ground.

Right, just like they said originally it was going to be only 5,000, and that would be it. That was also straight from the horse's mouth. How many mouths does this horse have?

Oh, and I know I've been added to your very long blocked user list and am very sorry that I made you so upset. Oops, you can't read this, I guess.

It is limited alright from 5,000 to 10,000 then maybe to 15,000. Of course SF put out more copies I am sure it is going to benefit them and Warner so why not. Starting to think this is all about money for everyone involved instead of about the fans. I still don't believe all 10,000 will be sold for awhile just look at the TCM 2 arrow video release it was limited also to like 10,000 and you can still buy it. I am not even a scalper but when you put something out with a price of $80 and say it is limited to 5,000 copies then grow a pair of balls Scream Factory and stand behind your word and product. It is not like they limited the pre orders to a specific site. Multiple sites had pre orders up and people knew where to go to pre order a copy in a good amount of time.
