Practical effects can look as good as the real deal, and so can CG. It's just that I don't demonize one craft over another simply because it's CG or practical. There are many scenes in all three JP movies were the differences are inconceivable, and can only be guessed when you know what the limitations of practical effects are, such as a running raptor. I grew up in the 80s, so CG wasn't exactly flourishing at the time. There are several mid to late 80s movies, where the VFX were pretty seamless. It can be anything, which is its advantage. |

As for the Mosasaurus, it looks very fake in the first scene (grabbing the shark) with no discernible heaviness of weight in the creature as it rises out of the water. Same with the introduction of the Raptors - look at how they cock their head when Owen is training them; where is the sense of weight; a feeling of heaviness?? They only look good towards the end of the film. Last edited by Riddhi2011; 11-10-2015 at 04:14 AM. |

The other scene is in the climax where the group hear the ocean and are headed for the beach and the raptors come out of the bushes and surround them. Their movements just look incredibly cartoonish, as does the scene when they run off having retrieved their missing eggs. |

I bought the PAL DVD (with the usual 4% speed-up issue) as Universal does not sell NTSC discs here in India. It's a two disc edition (not available in US). The second disc has all the Target exclusives and all of them are available at youtube in much poor quality. Here are the pics -
DSC_0304.jpg DSC_0305.jpg Disc 1 however does not contain all the other features from the BD (except 'Chris & Colin Take on the World' and 'Deleted Scenes'). This two disc edition is available as NTSC Reg 3 DVD in amazon.com and, the same disc as mine in ebay.co.uk . I got it for Rs 459 ($ 6.94) including shipping. Original price is Rs 599 ($ 9.06). The extras are ok. Look them up on youtube. Last edited by Riddhi2011; 11-12-2015 at 07:28 PM. |

![]() It depends. If you are a Michael Giacchino fan, the Target exclusive has a feature focused on the sound design and the score (which Giacchino does a excellent job at). I thought it was a decent bonus disc, and a worthy retailer exclusive. It will be included in some of the regular 2D editions sold at Target on BF. It basically includes clips of danger from all four films. From the Blu-Ray.com review: Quote:
