That's because the director of that film was or still is part of the Bloody Disgusting team, so I believe he has a lot of friends in the 'horror sites' circle who wanted to make the film happen.

LMAO. I hadn't realised that was the case. Adam Wingard has always given me bad vibes tbh. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he was outed as a sex pest.

Honestly, same. Always seemed like a bit of a egotistical idiot and never actually giving a shit about the franchises he works on. (especially with Godzilla vs. Kong now that I think about it)

Me too. It's even a Paramount movie as well. I was burned by Pet Sematary and Blair Witch. Fully expected early word to be great from the screening so I'm trying to take the reactions with a grain of salt. Though admittedly some have gotten me more excited for it.

The dude with the metallic ghostface looks pumped up. The only one in the cast who contributes to the physique is Mason Gooding.

They already canceled the premiere for the film's stars to attend, and Covid is at an all-time high in several states. If the film is a disaster at the BO, there might not be a Scream 6, 7, etc. I'm a Scream fan and hope this doesn't happen.
I think it is going to be pretty huge. Most people have seen Spider-man many times and there isn't much else in theaters. January horror have been pretty solid lately and this is a huge franchise return and I think it will be promoted well by the stars on social media which will be solid word of mouth. I would not be shocked to see $50 million over the 4 day weekend. I think it helps also a lot of people off work and will want to get out to the movies, even with COVID spiking, a lot of my local showings have sold a decent amount of tickets so far on the thursday premiere. I think it is going to do solid.

I've got a showing reserved on Thursday.

I've only seen the first two Scream movies. Is it necessary to have seen 3 and 4 before going into this new one?

A character who was new in 4 is returning. I wouldn’t say it’s necessary but it probably wouldn’t hurt to check them out.

Eh might as well watch 4.

Avoid 3 like the plague. It is awful.

Some of the early reactions did mention it’d be good to refresh on 1 and 4 but none mentioned 2 or 3.

For what it’s worth I enjoy 3 quite a bit and I think it’s better than most slashers. Definitely the ‘worse’ in the franchise but if you don’t mind a bit of goofiness in your horror/comedies you might enjoy 3.

I've come across a few non-spoiler reactions/reviews that are giving me some pause. I'm afraid this is going to be another safe cash-in for the most part. I guess this franchise isn't allowed to go outside the box (without getting stupid, of course)?

Dammed if you do and dammed if you don’t comes to mind with todays franchise sequels

Like for example the new terminator killing John Connor was a huge shake in the ass for the franchise and it was DOA in regards to fan response

Yeah, I couldn't care less about John getting killed off. He's more a plot device than a compelling character anyway.

I disagree, I'm a big Terminator fan and I really like Dark Fate. I thought it was a good decision to kill John off at the start.

Same I really liked the movie but there’s no denying the internet backlash was overshadowing the movie
