Watched an episode of "The Crown" last night via Netflix and it was UHD @ 15.25 Mbps. Several minutes later went to watch another UHD title and it would not go past 3 Mbps so I restarted the Nvidia Shield Pro and still had the low speed. Same for the test files. So I tried the same content on the Sony UDP-X1000 and it had similar results.

So I continued with Seven Worlds, One Planet UHD BD. Forgot to spot check the speed but will do on the next episode.

3 Mbps is just painful; I would switch to watching paint peel before I would endure that low of a streaming bitrate.

I still need to buy Seven Worlds, One Planet on 4K disc; I have been waiting for reviews because I wanted to be certain that it did not contain a lot of recycled scenes from Planet Earth II. The BBC sometimes reuses stuff across their documentaries.

Have only watched the first two episodes and it is possible there may be some recycled scenes but I do not remember them. I think you will be very pleased with picture quality. There is not a lot of use of the full Dolby Atmos channels but there are several scenes that make use of it to a good effect.

The set includes UHD BD and BD but no digital codes.

That's because the BBC has good taste; they NEVER include digital codes. I did not find a single one in any of the BBC blu-rays in my collection.

Curious how you have it already? Pretty damn jealous. All I have to look forward to this week is Jumanji 2....which is not quite on the same level.

For those that had QR codes you could have:

For digital codes with QR, just scan and follow the prompts.

Thanks for the 20/20 hindsight just the same.

I so seldom install apps on my phone that it doesn't even occur to me to do it anymore; I tend to use my phone as a phone and occasionally as a camera.

Universal to make current cinema releases available VOD from next week apparently. $20 per rental!

Why not release the Blu-ray also before the factories shut down!

I want The Invisible Man via UHD or Blu.

$20 for rental at streaming quality sucks. If they have day and date for $30 for bluray quality and lossless sound I’d bite. At the current state even $6 iTunes rental is too steep.

No, it’s because you probably have a rubbish set up. Junk in, junk out.

Let see whether he’s willing to lay out his setup, his viewing distance, whether it’s calibrated or not, etc. I bet you my career that his setup is the bottle neck or he’s just clueless about what is good (ie: never experienced UHD BD performance and did an A/B comparison)
