I can't bring myself to buy it, even for $5. The scenes I have seen of it look so terrible.

It isn't horrible... Garfield's spidery is pretty accurate to the comics. Some of the story feels rushed though and I hated the choice of villain for the first of the series.

Although I didn't like TASM as much as the Raimi trilogy (which I just completed my BD collection of), $5 for the movie was too good of an offer to pass up. I'd have to really not care for a Marvel movie to pass up the Blu-Ray. (Ang Lee's Hulk, the Ghost Rider movies, Daredevil, Elektra, and I haven't even bothered watching the Punisher movies.)

I'm a little put off as to why the Blu-Ray/DVD (I didn't get the 3D version) came in a DVD-thick case when Viva Elite cases can store 3 discs in the standard Blu-Ray sized case. You'd think this would be the package they'd go for: slimmer cases, more can be stored on a shelf, a point collectors and retailers can appreciate.

Which set is worth picking up? 3D or 4K?

Is the 4K in a thick or thin case?

The 4k doesn't have any special features I'm pretty sure. The 3d has a lot of features, and honestly it's hard to see any improvement in the 4k transfer. The 3d isn't really great though, most of the time it's like watching 2d besides the few action scenes. The set for the 3d is better I think, because all the extras.

I have both the regular Blu-ray (from the 3D BD combo) and the Mi4K version. The differences are very minimal. Maybe with an actual 4K upscaling BD player and a UHDTV, you might see some difference.

I'm not trying to knock it off, but the original release had very good video to begin with. So if the Blu-ray is cheap, go get it. You won't regret your purchase.

ASM was filmed in RED 3D, but a lot of the film is in darkness, so you won't get the pop-out effect. Oddly enough, ASM2 is shot on film in daylight with a 3D post-convert. Strange.

Director complained that it was too inconvenient for the crew hauling around the big cameras for shooting in 3D, so he decided to just shoot it in 2D and half-ass the 3D in post this time around.

I picked up ASM 3D...will just pick up ASM2 in standard 2D (unless it stinks which I doubt it will). I avoid 3D releases unless they're native/real 3D, or at least partially native 3D.

I'm in the exact same boat. Unless the 2D convert is very good (Titanic) or I bought the 3D almost solely because of the cover art (Avengers, which I kind of wish I hadn't).

We're in the age where 3D post-conversion is proven effective, as proven by Titanic and Jurassic Park. So I wouldn't doubt the ability of 3D for this one. But wow I didn't know part of Amazing 2 was shot on film!

Ha, I bought the 3D Avengers because it cost less than the 2D version. I also kind of wish I'd bought the 2D Avengers instead...and I'm 3D capable!

Just don't want to support fake 3D.

Though I've gone and purchased the Pixar 3D reissues, but then again those are a special exception for me given that they were re-rendered (though still revisionist).

I agree. I would definitely go for either the 3D set, or the 2D set, whichever is cheaper. As far as the 4k version is concerned, I'd say skip it. You're right, it doesn't have any special features. Why Sony released the film in 4k so soon after the initial release, and without any special features is beyond me. Did they really expect everyone to double dip? Not only that, but I've watched films in 4k before, and the improvement over 1080p is only marginal at best. In my opinion, I would rather have a regular blu-ray with special features rather than a 4k without special features.

If anyone could help out. Recently the wrap cover (not slipcover) 3D version of this film got damage. Is there like a Sony Home Entertainment help center just like Disney?

Thanks for the help in advance.

Hope this helps you. Wasn't sure which one was the right one, so I added both links.

I'd get this but I'm sure it's gonna be released in 4K eventually. Think I'll just wait for that.

It could well be Mastered in 4K, from the offing. As per Elysium, This is The End, etc.

Fingers crossed.
