Having just rewatched the movie last night, Hopkins is just meeting the rest of the movie's over-the-top stylization. It's a big, loud, weird movie, and it needs big, loud, weird performances. Hopkins might seem awkward and cringey out-of-context, but put him up against Tom Waits or even Oldman in his less-romantic scenes and it completely fits.

I'm even forgiving of Keanu. A dodgy accent and a performance that looks like he's had a broom shoved up his arse without any KY just seems to suit proceedings.

Sometimes, you almost have to admire how brazen people can be...

My 30th anniversary steelie showed up. It wasn't even sealed and the clips were broken so the case didn't even shut properly. Then I realised upon closer inspection that the 25th anniversary discs were inside.

So somebody bought the steelbook, kept the new discs, put the previous discs inside and returned it to Amazon for a refund, who then sent it to me without even checking the contents. I'm gonna venture a guess and say that the digital copy code was likely used or sold before going back inside the case.

I have a friend coming over tomorrow to watch it. Normally I would choose the Atmos audio but having heard both, I learned why the original 5.1 mix won an award...so of course that's what we'll be listening to!

The music is mixed more respectfully on the original mix. It gets drowned out by effects at times on the modern remix.

A perfect example is the choral tsunami leading into the main title card, at the end of the Romanian prologue. Big difference between the two mixes there.

that's real bold of that person, Amazon should have an department that deals
with returns, and i mean like a real one where they actually inspect the contents.

also a reason why i like to pre-order stuff,
sure, i might pay more on release date, but it's a guarantee i get my stuff new,
not used, especially if i'm living across the pond,
can't have Amazon asking me to return damaged/used product back.

I bought a supposed "new" cooking pan off Amazon - clearly it had been opened before. Sent it right back. They do pull this kind of sh*t from time to time.

Can anyone tell me if the Blu-ray disc (1080p) included in the 4K edition has an option for audio and subtitles in Portuguese?

Or do you have a picture of the menu in the language section?

Saw a notice at Canadian distributor that the Steelbook is discontinued. Probably not a surprise there, but if you want it, I'd suggest you get it now while prices are still reasonable. Same for Starship Troopers SB.

It's just that I find normal amaray perfectly adequate and I don't like the way steelbooks have a high potential to arrive dented or scratched as I can't exactly go buy one in a shop where I live.

There is no way to tell, at this point, if Sony plans to release these DV discs in standard packaging. You can either wait years or get it now.

I don’t think they are at this point, kind of lock how they’re locking titles behind the big Columbia Classic box sets.

Or you do what I do (I hate steelbooks) - swap out and put the new discs in the original version's case.
