This is a must buy (for me). I remember back in the day someone at this site (who got banned I think) was physically threatening to "punch my lights out" because he couldn't comprehend that the prior home video releases were incorrectly color timed and overly bright...and changed on Blu-ray with Francis Ford Coppola's approval. Ah, those were the days...

Haha, you remember that? The guy friggin lost it, it was really unbelievable. Because it didnt look like he remembered from prior home releases...he had a total meltdown even in the face of overwhelming evidence.

I think you might have been moderating that fiasco. Deci...best moderator ever.

I was just telling my daughter that I'm not planning on upgrading any of the blu-rays to 4K.

Thanks for proving me a liar!

Happy enough with the Supreme Series from last year, I like the movie but not enough to buy it again already.

Awesome. I've really come to appreciate this movie more over the years. Also really enjoy the Mike Mignola comic adaptation from back then. Hyped.

Love the movie but will wait and see if it's really a big improvement over the BD.

Of course that was their game plan the whole time. Similarly with Jerry Maguire right now, they'll count on double dippers again with the UHD. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they start announcing more catalog titles from previous Mi4k releases since they've already been scanned from a 4k source. They probably would have to do new Atmos mixes for them, though.

Yes, Sony has a ton of these Mi4K titles to release.

I might wait for this to take a price drop though as I was actually getting ready to watch the remastered BD soon. I won't feel the need to watch it again for at least a year or longer.

Gonna have to be picky about which of those titles I upgrade. I only have two Mi4K titles, Moneyball and Godzilla 98, and I can't imagine either of those looking significantly better on UHD (aside from certain shots in Godzilla that have subtitles in them, for some reason... I guess compositing or something). Moneyball especially looks amazing, easily one of the best-looking BDs I own.

Yeah. I'm sure like Labyrinth it will have a smidge more detail and better grain, but in the end is that worth $20+? Probably not. Maybe in a sale someday. I do love the movie.

It's still a stream mind you, and a recompressed 8-bit SDR 709 one at that. Not saying that the UHD disc will be a night and day difference but the HDR & WCG combined with the native 4K remaster and proper HEVC encode could well end up looking significantly better. I don't dig the movie so this is one I won't be picking up, but good luck to those who do!
