It should be watched between seasons three and four, no two ways about it. There is a scene at the end of Razor that will have a lot more impact coming off of the season three finale. It also sets the tone for what's to come in season four. And if you're really good at connecting the dots, you could be spoiling a major plot twist for yourself if you watch it at the end of season two. So definitely watch it after season three.

It's pretty clear that the series producers wrote Razor with the intention of having the viewer watch the film in production order -- i.e., immediately following the Season 3 finale ("Crossroads, Part II") and immediately before the Season 4 premiere ("He That Believeth in Me"), owing to several story-elements in the movie foreshadowing events about to occur in the final season. In particular, [Show spoiler] Disc-order viewing sequence all the way. Last edited by Lionel Horsepackage; 12-26-2014 at 11:10 PM. |

That list reminds me of my one little annoyance with the discs - I tend to just stick the disc in and Play All - so when there are extended episodes they play the normal version first then play the extended of the same episode next. I have to remind myself to check first if that disc has any extended episodes. After I've just watched the episode, I don't want to watch it again right after - but I'd rather watch the extended one in the first place.
I wish when you hit play all it said "watch extended on episodes that have it available or not?" But great discs - just my personal peeve LOL. |

Pretty much, yeah -- as long as you watch it at some point after Season 4.5's "No Exit" (absolutely no sooner than this), you'll be fine, but it does make a rather nice retro-epilogue to the entire series run, IMO. You might consider viewing it after the series finale ("Daybreak") , similar to how it was first broadcast.

I am up to S3Ep6 and I definitely remembered to watch out for extended eps while I do the Play All function… (Season 2 - From D2-D3) "Pegasus" (broadcast version) is the last ep on Disc 2 and then extended on Disc 3! Caught me out the first time on BD (frustrating watching the same ep again, with additional scenes). Same occurs Season 3 from 2nd-3rd disc with "Unfinished Business". At least in the Fourth Season, you are made more aware as Season 4 Disc 4 (UK Disc labelled The Final Season D2): "A disquiet follows my soul" is then followed by the extended version on the same disc. Same with "Islanded in a stream of stars" on the next disc. Then, of course, on the final disc watch "Daybreak Extended Episode". Plays the final 2 broadcast episodes as one huge movie. Watching BSG for the first time, I recommend watching the extended eps instead, so be wary and aware of the list below: Season 2 Disc 2 - After 4th Ep Flight of the Phoenix (S2Ep9), STOP. Load Disc 3 - Play All Pegasus - (Extended Episode) Season 3 Disc 2 - After 3rd Ep Hero (S3Ep9) STOP. Load Disc 3 - Play All Unfinished Business (Extended Episode) *S4D1 - Do not insert Skip Razor, watch after series Season 4 Disc 4- Play All - Watch 1st Episode on disc Sometimes a Great Notion (S4Ep11), then skip 2nd Ep on disc (non-extended) to next episode A Disquiet Follows My Soul (Extended Episode) Season 4 Disc 5 - Play All - After 3rd Ep Someone to Watch Over Me (S4Ep17) skip 4th Ep on disc (non-extended) to next episode Islanded in a Stream of Stars (Extended Episode) Season 4 Disc 6 - DO NOT PLAY ALL (As you will play Daybreak Pt1, Daybreak Pt2,3 which are broadcast versions of Ep19 & finale). Play Daybreak (Unaired Extended Episodes) The final 2 episodes played as one huge finale, unedited and much improved without broadcast time restrictions After finishing the series, watch The Plan and then Razor (IMHO). *I recommend skipping Razor as it adds nothing between the finale of S3 and S4 and it is much more exciting for your first viewing to head straight to Season 4 after being [Show spoiler] I also suggest skipping webisodes and watch them at the end (more filler than anything else). If you are new to BSG and really enjoy S3 and S4 (more than S1-2) I recommend Caprica. https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Capri...8/#UserReviews Prequel to BSG that was critically acclaimed and highly entertaining. Deserved a 2nd season, but poor ratings due to Universal (and more to the point ComCast) wanting to kill it off to make way for wrestling on SyFy and more Sharknado type crap (cheap, nasty bullish*t) pisses me off. Frack you SyFy… Frack you very much. |

Somehow I missed the reboot of Galactica when in ran on SciFi. I recently bought the complete series Blu-ray set and over the past few weeks, aided by a good online episode guide (including two sound mutes during the last 10 minutes of Razor) I sat through the entire 67 hours plus of this series. I was hooked and completely enthralled. This is one one of the best TV series that I have ever seen with a brilliant cast and superb writing. The excellent Blu-ray video and DTS-HD Master audio made it that much more engrossing. The extended episode "Daybreak" was a roller coaster of emotions and some surprises. It was a fitting finale to this great show. Every time I cued up a disc, I found myself looking forward to hearing the beautiful haunting Sanskrit theme which accompanied the menus. IMHO, BSG is a monumental achievement in Television and all of those hours that I was glued to my set was time time very well spent.

I have finally finished the first two discs, and I am definitely hooked now.
The first two episodes of disc 3 are very promising indeed! I didn't think I'd be that interested, but now I can hardly wait to see how it continues. I really don't like the cinematography though. It's absolutely hideous unfortunately. The blown-out whites, the sick yellows, etc.. Yuk. However, the story is very engaging. Can't wait to see the rest. |
