The cinematography and visual style is great, but the story lags in some places...especially since its nearly half-way through the film that they tell you why David Bowie is on Earth. I wish the Blu-Ray came with all the neat extras the DVD did.
The only thing missing is the novel, so that counts as ONE "neat extra."

Got it in my #2 spot...The Fallen Idol will undoubtedly ship today, for watching tomorrow. That will give me a shot at Chronos for next Wednesday/Saturday.

A coin flip as to whether I'll get it quickly or not. Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence came right after release (I bought it at the last sale) and House only got to me right before Thanksgiving...guess we'll see...

It is a movie that grows on you. The "Porpoise Song" sequence underwater is one of my favorite pieces of film ever. Fantastically beautiful.

Those special effects on 35mm were invented for that movie, BTW.

I might be slipping in my old age, but I don't remember "Fish Tank" going up for pre-order on Amazon, and I already have "Still Walking" locked in at $27.99

either way,

Fish Tank is now $27.99

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004CIIXFA

EDIT:

Looks like the other Feb. releases haven't dropped yet.... I'll keep an eye on the prices, and hope for the best.

Plus, novels are for people who read. The only thing I read is subtitles.

+1. I was on the fence about Cronos, but that review, combined with (as Yahtzee Croshaw put it) RON PERLMAN, made me decide I need this as well.

Was going to resist on Cronos, Videodrome (and Broadcast News) hoping for another B&N sale but after reading that review I'm off to put my order in. Merry Christmas... me.

The Fallen Idol is one of my most watched Criterion films. I don't know what it is for sure, but I have to go back and watch it every so often. It's definitely one of my favorites.

What about us that are going to buy the del Toro film "Cronos"?

I did enjoy "Baraka," though, so I might buy "Chronos," as well. Thanks.

I'm not buying it for a minute. As long as I get what I paid for, I'm fine with it. I simply will never buy from the seller again. It is unfortunate that we live with dishonest people, but it is something we all must do.

Now for my favorite line from Closet Cases of the Nerd Kind,
'They just keep saying the same thing'.

I love Raising Arizona (I know many do, and many don't) and I actually own Knowing and thought it was a decently entertaining flick...... and I thought Matchstick Men was pretty good too. Don't remember Windtalkers or Adaptation well enough to comment on those, and never saw Gone in 60 Seconds or 8MM because they looked terrible.

Honestly.... when I saw that shirt, I thought it was supposed to be funny because both Cage and Travolta are douches

I guess the fact that the movie Face Off exists, ruins the humor in the shirt for me.....

Perhaps a Shirt that says "Gary Oldman" with a picture of "Christopher Walken" would be humorous, because they're both creepy
I own Gone in 60 Seconds with Nic Cage because I love the cars in that movie. I loathe Nic Cage and Angelina Jolie. I hate the scene where the crew get ready by listening to Low Rider and Nic Cage tops it off by shaking his arms rapidly and saying 'lets go' or something lame. He tries too hard for me to ever like him.

But I do own The Family Man on DVD. A film that reminds me to make the best everyday choices for what I firmly believe in.

Mine arrived and it is in the original cardboard! I have no intention of getting a replacement case ever!

Final note, watched The Last Picture Show last night. Beautiful print, absolutely amazing film, nice extras.
