You want a non-vinyl subwoofer, buy one and shut up over the extra cost.

I had a customer once decide they wanted their 9 speaker theatre in 9 different color speakers. Why?

The wife drove a Jetta with different color body panels.

I contacted 5 speaker companies to see who would bite. Salk, Totem, Zu, James and Ohm Walsh were my choices.

Totem responded first. The 9 colors were VW automotive paints.

Speakers that were $14,000 to begin with...rang up $38,000. (Part of that cost was a freight expedited shipment which was $3500 by itself...and Totem required it)

Why?

Totem charged a non-refunded $3000 as a practice run on one piece of cabinet.
Again,
I was done with this topic. And out of respect and courtesy that Tom showed even after me disagreeing im not going to start another rant. I don't know if you were able to tell or not, but I moved on. But to answer your question again, Companies are here to make money not to break even. What so hard to understand about that. Move on like I did. Its old news now. I'mm sorry but im not going to agree with everything everybody does, that'ss not my nature. I can tell you this, next time I will be more professional and try to use better choice of words-anywhere, psa, salk, hsu, etc...

And to your "Made in USA" comment, we don't make things like we used to and that's a fact. Would I rather have an American made piece, of course. But, I think people get caught up on the idea that its 1000% better. I know what Made in USA represents!

Have you agreed with every decision the Presidents have made? No you haven't. Whats the big deal. Move on buddy, I have!

You must work for salk!

You asked me earlier if I worked for PSA. Do you pay attention...or just willy nilly rant and complain?

Nobody makes things like they used to.

I wasn't being serious about you working for PSA or Salk, no sense of humor either OMG. My supposedly rant stopped a while ago, but you seem to have much to say or want to rant. How can I help you? I complain, disrespectful, *****ed, I whined, and all I did was disagreed. I understand I could of used better choice of words, I will hit myself in the head for that. Again, I am done talking about this topic. Why are we still taking about this.

Did you see the last question I asked Tom. Was I ranting...It stopped so let it go.

I'm not asking for your approval. If I ask you a question in the future and don't want to answer me, that will be your choice.

"Nobody makes things like they used to" Exactly! Instead of other countries coming up to us in quality, our quality has come down to there standards. Is made in the USA still better, of course with out a doubt. Please tell me if I am wrong.

PSA,
Please keep making USA products, lets make that clear.

Would it make sense to have 4 XV30Fse subwoofers in each corner in a room that this is 22X10?

OMG! I ve been done with this topic. Can we all move on. I made a couple mistakes and I have noted them already. Currently I have 2 Bic Acoustech subwoofers. They do the job, but I am not completely happy. I want to get 4 XV30Fse and put them in a room that will be 22X10. Put one in each corner. Is it to much power for this size room? Are you satisfied with the XS15se? Or do you plan to get bigger? The XS15se seems more then enough for my room, but I am going to regret not buying the XV30. Thats what im afraid of.

I'm aware vendors will raise prices and they raise prices to make more money. Its no different then what any other company does. But, I understand that because I know its part of the business. I don't agree with it, but I understand it. There is allot of things I don't agree with in general, but I understand the logic behind it.

Anyways,
Yes I will post some pictures of my humble theater room. Its currently in a 13 X 15 room which is to small. The project is to expand a room to make it a dedicated theater room. Once the room is completed it will approximately be about 22 X 10.

I currently have a Bic acoustech system with 2 Bic Pl-200's. Do the job, but not completely happy.
Ok tristian we're cool now. That is an ambitious project. A 22 x 10 room should be a good size for an HT. What will be the height of the room? This way you and Tom can figure out the total cubic feet of the room to decided what size and how many subs you will need to pressurize the room. Good luck with your project.

Not really. No one really goes from a $300(?) sub system to a $5500 sub system. In this case you would be adding headroom you don't need(18hz to 100hz) instead of going for deeper extension.

A single XS15se would be a big upgrade in this situation. So if you do decide to audition a Power Sound Audio product, I wouldn't start with 4. Maybe a single XV15se for example.

By the way its a $600 sub system☺️ What size room is a xv30fse suitable for? So lets say i would get 2 xv30fse instead, would i be gaining any significant performance vs the 2 xv15se? By the way i like to feel the bass hit me, thats why im intrigued by the monster xv30fse! Plus i cant just do one, it needs a companion.

PL-200 data-set

http://www.data-bass.com/data?page=system&id=47

Dual XV30Fse in that room size will extend down to the 16-18hz range with clean output capabilities of 118-127dB over most/all of the operating bandwidth.

Dual XV15se will have the same extension but with about 3dB less max output capabilities.

Dual XV30Fse would be equal to approximately 10(?) of the Pl-200s.

Hi people's,
So I'm new to the theater world. I'm going to each thread asking for advice. Don't know if thats what I'm suppose to do?

I currently own a Onkyo 717 Receiver and Sony front speakers.

I want to upgrade to a 5.2 system.

Speaker systems I'm considering are, Klipsch, Polk, GoldenEar, and Fluance.

Subs I'm considering are, PSA, SVS, HSU, and Klipsch.

Receivers I'm considering are, Marantz 6007 and Yamaha 1020

Any suggestions? I need all the help I can get.

If you were in my position would you go all out and get the xv30fse or what Tom is recommending? He is telling me to go with the less expensive one.

How large is the room and are there any large openings to other areas of the home?

dB = decibel. A way of measuring the loudness you hear.
