Robert Green(one of the largest wood veneer manufacturers) tripled their cost. The rest of the industry doubled to quadrupled.

Smurfit(cardboard) doubled their cost.

Who do you think those upcharges get passed on to?

And...learn the differences between whether/weather(and numerous others). Nobody likes to pay attention to people with barely 2nd grade grammar.

But all my speakers(not subs) are all from the era that wood veneer was par for the course. Not an added upcharge.

My newest speakers are circa 1995.

As somebody suggested to me, your probably working for PSA then. Why is everybody so defense about this topic? I asked a simple question to a business decision. I dont agree with it and i asked for proof. He is entitled to show them or not. Why do we have to accept an explanation from any company, as a consumer i have the right to question and ask for proof. Why am i wrong. Example; if a person back in the day filed bankruptcy, everyone is like you did what. If a company filed bk, everyone is like ok it happens. My point is we have to make companies more accoutable. And for the record i did not demand for financial records, i asked! Ive said numerous time PSA has good products, Tom has good customer serivice and builds relationships with his customers. Im not going to agree with everything he publishes. What did i do wrong? I should apolagies for asking a simple question. We need to be better then this.

Sorry, no. The XV30Fse in veneer would be very expensive because of the size. Combine that with the MOQ(minimum order quantity) from our vendor that doesn't match up well with the overall demand for such a large subwoofer and it just doesn't make sense for us at this time.

Just as an outsider looking in you are definitely acting like a troll. You now have just over 30 posts total on BD,com, all in this thread. Your first post about purchasing a sub is from 15 months ago (June 2013). Maybe if you were able to make a decision a little quicker you would not be so upset over a price increase which was bought on by Tom's vendors raising their prices. I own Hsu subs and Dr. Hsu's prices fluctuate also depending on his vendors costs. In fact Dr. Hsu's veneer prices went so high he stopped offering his better veneers. I was one of the last owners to get his walnut veneer on my ULS-15s.

So maybe you need to walk away for awhile until you really are truly in the market to buy a sub.

There is plenty of people in here that have not purchased a psa subwoofer. So that comment is stupid. Its obivious i have subs at the moment and im wanting to upgrade to something better. You obviously dont have a psa sub either how can you compare wood veeners. Ill choose when i make my decision, unless you want to me make me yourself. I made my piece with Tom and we are done with this topic. Hsu has good products and has allot of happy customers. Im sure there is a couple out there that think different, but you can say that about any company. It takes time to build a home theater and thats what im doing. Thank you for the response. Im sure it was tuff based on the past posts. That topic is done with and im looking forward to asking you more questions in the future. Again, PSA is first in my list. Im currently in a project and that will take some time to build, the constuction that is. I will also be upgrading all speakers and subs. 4 upgraded subs im thinking of getting. Thats why its taken so long to make a decision (Hometheatergeek). Were talking about thousands of dollars just in subs. Plus psa has plenty to choose from and its hard to pick on.

I hate to keep beating a dead horse, but I wasn't arguing. I disagreed which is very different. If every disagreement with my wife was an argument and I was disrespectful to her each time, I would be divorced by now. 9 beautiful years and counting. As a consumer I think I have the right to ask why. Looking back could of I've used better words to express my point of course. I got caught in the emotion just like everyone else.

I'm aware vendors will raise prices and they raise prices to make more money. Its no different then what any other company does. But, I understand that because I know its part of the business. I don't agree with it, but I understand it. There is allot of things I don't agree with in general, but I understand the logic behind it.

Yes I will post some pictures of my humble theater room. Its currently in a 13 X 15 room which is to small. The project is to expand a room to make it a dedicated theater room. Once the room is completed it will approximately be about 22 X 10.

I currently have a Bic acoustech system with 2 Bic Pl-200's. Do the job, but not completely happy.

Why not take your act over to Salk and buy a custom made Rhythmik. (Your act would last 1 post there)

Over there you can get whatever you want...and stop pestering Tom over his pricing motives.

Don't understand how you don't get that veneer(not vaneer) costs a bunch. If Tom thinks an enormous subwoofer would take too much extra cash for veneer choice...he knows his company. If 1 out of 50 customers buys the X upgrade...why bother with the time to offer it. Totally understand that.

You want a non-vinyl subwoofer, buy one and shut up over the extra cost.

I had a customer once decide they wanted their 9 speaker theatre in 9 different color speakers. Why?

The wife drove a Jetta with different color body panels.

I contacted 5 speaker companies to see who would bite. Salk, Totem, Zu, James and Ohm Walsh were my choices.

Totem responded first. The 9 colors were VW automotive paints.

Speakers that were $14,000 to begin with...rang up $38,000. (Part of that cost was a freight expedited shipment which was $3500 by itself...and Totem required it)

Why?

Totem charged a non-refunded $3000 as a practice run on one piece of cabinet.
