I know its a comedy, but it was too dumb for me. Superbad is kids being dumb, which I could relate to because I did some of the same dumb things as the kids in the film.

Knocked up went from
[Show spoiler]"Oops, I have made a one night mistake, to lets be a couple and have a baby and shop for the baby and be happy etc, in about 15 minutes.

I know I shouldnt take it seriously because its a comedy, but it felt too out there for me.

While I resume work on a seriously raunchy and demented manuscript, I popped in "Led Zeppelin: The Song Remains the Same."

I was seriously expecting nothing but concert footage; I didn't realize that such footage came up short, forcing the band to cobble together some weird crap. Right from the start, gangsters roll up to some gaudy house and shoot up the place, causing some guy to loose his head and bleed in rainbow colors. Then we see some naked kids playing in a river. WTF?!! Then, we get around to some actual music; there are still some weird fantasy sequences injected in the mix, and some bland, uneventful behind-the-scenes shots.

But the music/concert footage did not dissapoint me, so it's worth it. I love most, if not all, of their songs, and I think most favorites are represented here. The performances interested me; the singing and instrumentatons are genuine, and differ enough from the studio recordings to make them refreshing. Yep, they rock.

The fantasy scenes, despite some interesting imagery, are pretty cheesy and serve little purpose in the long run; if they were cut out, I'd be happy with 70 minutes or so of pure music, rather than this padded 137-minute spiel. Regardless, I have no complaints about the photography; it won't look as refined as modern concerts, but I like it as it is. The actual performances show decent showmanship and lighting. And of course, the music is awesome.

3.5/5 (entertainment: 4/5, content: 3.5/5, film: 3/5)

Recommendation: Fans might dig it, but I'd recommend finding the bonus concert DVD that came with the "Mothership" album, for a nonstop concert experience. Otherwise, I'd only recommend this for the music, not the fantasy BS.

The Blu-Ray is swell; parts of it look grainy as hell, dark, soft and gaudy; other parts will look darn near perfect. Given source limitations, I'm sure this will be the best this stuff will ever look, but is ultimately a grade worse than "This is Spinal Tap." Sound quality did not dissapoint me.

PQ: 3.5/5, AQ: 4.5/5

Thats such an odd flick. I guess if you were in the "right frame of mind" back in the 70s it may have been a five star film. I watched it with my cousin a few months ago.

Right on up there with the ending to "2001: A Space Odyssey."

44 Inch Chest(2009)

The trailer for ths one is quite misleading. Makes it appear to be a Brittish Crime flick, like Layer Cake or one of Guy Richie's movies.

Instead you get a peek into the psyche of Colin Diamond, a emotionally/mentally broken man. Played by the criminally underrated Ray Winstone.

Who is supported by some of the best brittish actors in the biz.

John Hurt

Stephen Dillane

Ian McShane

Tom Wikerson

and Joanne Whaley.

3.5/5

The Naked Gun

Now here's a film I haven't watched in agggggeeeeeessss!

In all honesty, I can't really write all that much about it, it is what it is, ridiculous, childish but damn funny humour

Leslie Nielsen is so pimping up in heaven right now

7.5/10

Ah...I really wanted to like this one. I saw the trailer when it first came out a good while back but that was it really, I didn't remember anything going in tonight besides his wife was in jail. So I'm thinking, "Yea, this will be good. Russell Crowe's wife is in jail, he's going to be fighting to get her out and to find out who did it." Not so much...turns out it was about him
[Show spoiler]staging an ridiculously elaborate (and just plain ridiculous) breakout for her.

I on board for the first part of the film, but it took a nose dive story wise for me after
[Show spoiler]he met up with Liam Neeson (who was here....why?) to learn how to stage a successful prison escape in less than five minutes.

It really bugged me that this movie took itself quite seriously and expected me to do so as well when I'm watching the events of the 2nd and 3rd act unfold and continually going

And it's a real shame, because like I said I was on board with the movie for the first portion. I was really enjoying it.

A movie about him trying to get her out (you know, the legit way), prove her innocence and/or catch the person who really did it would have been a much better movie for me; but unfortunately the filmmakers didn't think so.

In addition, we have this character we are supposed to empathize with who goes from the unassuming father/teacher to
[Show spoiler]blowing up freaking meth labs, killing people (including ditching one on a bus bench) and for a little while deciding to flee the country without his son...you know the one he's been trying to get mommy back for the whole time.
Horrible change in his character.

To his credit, Russell Crowe and Elizabeth Banks do their best with what they've got. They are both very solid in the leading roles.

Olivia Wilde shows up in a supporting role...actually no, it was a glorified cameo. She was really underused here; I expected she would be the source of 'temptation' for Russell's character. Not in the overly intentional way, but the get to be friends and then want more kind of way. Would have provided some good conflict for his character...but alas, we didn't get that and she was only on screen for about 5 minutes.

This movie could have been so much better...if it was almost completely different
Keep the main actors, keep the plot of her going to jail...just change what the husband does about it and what is going on in his life while she's there.

But as it stands...a disappointment; an entertaining one, but a
disappointment still.

Rating - 3/5
I think I gave it a 4 out of 5. I like this film and to the part where u were disappointed I can say that yes he
[Show spoiler]met up with Liam for like 5 minutes but u took it wrong I think. He just wanted some pointers from the great mind. I was actually impressed with the film that it took a while before he attempted to break her out because there are a lot of films that some ordinary Joe's friend, wife, son etc...goes to jail and then that night or the next day they attempt to break them out some some extraordinary events take place very quick which is very unrealistic. In this film they showed how he learned everything, they took their time and he didnt attempt the escape until down the line which I thought was very well done and more believable.
Got Em!!

Today was another of my occasional movie days:

The Fellowship of the Ring - 4.5/5

Underworld - 4.5/5

The Blind Side - 4.75/5

The Two Towers - 5/5

I may watch another later on before bed

I'm going to either watch Return of the King tomorrow or go to my cousin's house to watch the Fast and the Furious movies before seeing Fast Five next week.

The amount of time that was spent wasn't my problem, it was the story itself. The amount of time spent helped to make it a bit better because
[Show spoiler]he did put so much time and planning into getting her out.

Even with my disappointment, it was still entertaining even if I didn't care for the main idea.

It's set to Friends Only which makes it show up as a - in the forums.

Just change the end of the URL in your collection to Diesel instead of your name and you should be able to see it.
