Man, I'm loving how, for years, everyone whined and complained for Marvel to get the rights for Spider-Man back so they could "do it right." Now, from the casting of Spidey to Aunt May to the choice of director, most everyone is now saying how wrong it all is. Such short memories...

Most everyone? Not sure where you get that. Sure, I'm seeing some negative but nowhere close to most like you say.

Too bad they can't get Tobey Maguire back IMO.
On the contrary, that's something we should be thankful for.

Well okay, it's something I'M thankful for.

I also wish Sony wasn't involved at all. They're oblivious. Even Fox seems to (mostly) be getting their stuff together, but Sony is way in last place in this race. They're standing at the starting line, looking at a butterfly.

I won't say Marvel can do no wrong, but with most people, they have a fantastic track record. It's fine to be cautious, but I don't know why some think this will be terrible because Peter is in high school (like the character was when he was created) or because Aunt May is a mature woman in her 50s instead of being older than the Earth.

I think Marvel's Spider-Man will be a mix between the first Iron Man and Guardians of the Galaxy. They have some of the best comics material in history to work from. They have people at Marvel, Feige especially, who know what they're doing and have proved that time and time again. I'm not worried about this movie. I think it's going to be another smash hit from Marvel. I've been dying for Marvel to handle Spidey since 2008, so now that it's happening I'm thrilled and have no doubts.

Like I said in a previous post, I hope they give Pascal some toys or a coloring book to play with while the people from Marvel do all the real work.

Nearer to the age Aunt May's appearance makes her look in the original comics.

You do know that in the original comics she looks more like Peter's great-grandmother instead of his aunt?
Really, I had great-aunts that looked younger than aunt May in the first issues of Spiderman...

But there may be some out there who have aunts who look as old as Peter Parker's.

Yeah, if she did a lot of drugs when young or their father was younger than his sister by about twenty years.

Hell, the actress in the Raimi films looks younger than May in the original comics!

Whether consciously or not I have seen a subtle shift in attitude since Age of Ultron came out. Before that movie for a while people acted like Marvel could do no wrong, now they're back to phase one era skepticism. Which I think is a good thing, because Marvel need to shake things up a bit.

I'd agree more if it didn't seem as if the prevalent reaction towards Ant-Man were that the movie is going to be awesome. This film is definitely feeling shaky so far, I imagine Raimi and Webb are just watching with bated breath right now.

No, there isn't a shift. The ones complaining are the same group of people who like to whine and cry about everything. No one has even seen the new actors in their roles yet, so how would they know they are bad?

George Clooney for uncle Ben? Or maybe he's already dead in this reboot.

I don't really think Clooney would be the right fit personally, but I've been proven wrong before.

He's most likely already dead, but I think they'll have a flashback at least.

Yes ben is dead, Clooney is a great choice, but after Batman and Tomorrowland he probably wouldn't want to do a sci-fi/super hero movie.

And if they do a brief flashback cameo of Ben, they'd probably get a quality but much less well known actor.

I've definitely seen people who were super into the series starting to find it repetitive and less interesting. Not talking about super fans, more the average fan. It's just forum impressions though, not any kind of research.

What is wrong with you? Disney-Marvel is infallible and has an A+ track record. No criticism allowed.
