I asked Stampede if they'd consider returning to 2-4 to remaster them as well. They said yes, if Universal is on board. They even said this new release was a surprise to them, when Arrow contacted them.

Quote:
We would be willing [to remaster them], but we do not own the rights to the Tremors franchise. Such decisions are made exclusively by Universal studios with no input from us whatsoever. We did not even know they were remastering Tremors until Arrow contacted us for additional material.

Got mine through from Amazon yesterday (the usual useless packaging - just stuffed in an A4 card envelope - but thankfully it arrived unscathed). It looks & sounds great & I was surprised just how stacked the first disc was, extras-wise.

As mentioned earlier, if anyone just wants to see the extended interviews from the limited bonus disc, they're all on the Tremors youtube page, along with the new 'Making Perfection' doc & an excellent 45 minute chat with Kevin Bacon, the latter of which I was a little disappointed to find wasn't on either disc.

The upcoming "ultimate" collection will not feature Blu-rays of the TV series because essentially Universal didn't feel like it.

Quote:
Nothing has been remastered for this particular collection and the movies will look the same as they do in previous releases. The set is called “ultimate” since it contains all of the Tremors properties (film and TV) for the first time ever. The source elements are the best we have available at this time.
When I queried them on the source elements....

Quote:
For this particular Tremors collection, we did not recreate the Blu-ray discs. The intent of the collection was simply to compile all the Tremors properties into one set, not to redo everything. This is a very common practice with collections in our industry and something that’s been done by all studios for the last 20+ years. Discs are only updated in rare instances or if there is a new format such as 4K. It’s not to say it could or would never happen but it was out of scope for what this particular project was at this particular time.

I realize, as a fan, it can appear puzzling as to why certain decisions are made. We do our best to provide the best possible product to consumers while balancing profitability.

No upgrades for you, commoner!

A.K.A. Expect our master of the original picture ("picture" is industry speak for "Motion Picture" it's what us in the biz call movies).

Shame as we don't get many 16mm shows brought to Blu-ray.

Hmm, with Arrow releasing nice LEs of the first two, maybe I’ll wait to see how far they get with the series before picking up and double dipping on an outdated set.

Would be nice to have all the sequels and TV series in one for a future repeat marathon, though.

The first four Uni Blu rays have been in dump bins for awhile, I got 2 and 4 for $5 each to go with my Arrow awhile ago. I think I am grabbing the Arrow Aftershocks set and then I'm done. I don't much care for the movies after 4 and I don't want to aquire more DVDs of the TV series in 2023. Wish they would give that a proper set.

Even with our tiny consumer brains we can work out it's a cost issue. But that doesn't get solved by simply bundling an existing TV DVD set, or the original films mediocre BD, when a remaster (by Arrow) has been available for 3yrs.
The boxset also coincidentally releases on the same day as Arrow's remaster release of 'Tremors 2'. A nice slap in the face for a licensing partner, that's remastering your own catalogue and paying you to do so...

Also 20+ years ago we wouldn't have cared about a show in SD as we would have been buying them on DVDs.

Is the ultimate collection region free?
Diabolik and orbit list it as region b, but bluray.com has it listed region free.
Thanks
