The Dark Knight Trilogy (UK edition), and the Best Buy steelbooks of all three.

Drive - regular edition and HMV steelbook

The Watchmen - regular edition and Ultimate Cut set

I think that's it.

I only ever have a single copy of a film in any given format. Once I upgrade a DVD to Blu-ray, the DVD disappears.

However, that being said, because of the 2 differing steelbooks released by FutureShop, I have 2 copies of Hunger Games. However, that will change once I see how they continue to release the franchise. In the end, I will only have 1 copy that best matches the entire set.

On the same format? None. I don't want the same disc but with some fancy packaging.

That being said, I do own a few movies on more than one format.

-Blue Velvet (Blu-Ray and Laserdisc)
-King Kong (DVD and Criterion Laserdisc)
-U2: Rattle and Hum (DVD and UMD)

There are also a couple of movies that I have on Blu-Ray and DVD for the special features (Reservoir Dogs, Mallrats, From Dusk Till Dawn...)

I put the remastered UK Blu inside that US digibook. Sometimes you have to make your own Special Editions

I have the Universal 100th Anniversary edition of Inglourious Basterds and the Canadian Steelbook as well. I'll likely be selling the 100th Anniversary edition now/soon, but I couldn't pass up the Steelbook.

Apart from upgrading DVDs to Blu-ray and making "combo packs":

E.T. 4-Disc DVD boxset (includes 20th Anniversary edition and Soundtrack)
E.T. Blu-Ray Steelbook
E.T. Blu-Ray Digibook

Not sure if this counts but, I've owned multiple copies of Jurassic Park but sold all but the recent blu-ray/dvd combo and 3D:

Jurassic Park VHS
Jurassic Park Trilogy DVD with Bonus Disc
Jurassic Park Ultimate Trilogy Blu-ray/DVD steelbook
Jurassic Park 3D with blu/DVD

Same with Star Wars:

Star Wars OT VHS (unaltered trilogy Full screen)
Star Wars OT Special Edition VHS widescreen box set
Star Wars OT Special Edition DVD box with bonus disc
Star Wars OT Special Edition/Limited Edition DVD (with unaltered DVD bonus discs)
Star Wars Complete Saga Blu-Ray

The only double I have is Indy 4. Bought it when it first came out and got another copy when I picked up the Indy set.

The Dark Knight SB
The Dark Knight Trilogy

I won't do a huge story of why and how and the prices I paid. That's just overkill for the OP's original question.

SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE has to be the big one for me. Over the years I've purchased:

1. Laserdisc*
2. VHS
3. Bootleg VHS of ABC television edit
4. Original DVD boxed set
5. 2006 DVD boxed set
6. Single release Blu-ray
7. "1978-2006" Blu-ray collection

*I feel like it's important to note that I just bought the laserdisc within the last year, ha.

Granted, some of those mean that I also own SUPERMAN III and IV a bunch of times, too, but I think THE MOVIE is still king as far as my collection goes.

As far as sheer money goes, though, I think those damn LORD OF THE RINGS movies probably have it beat, though. I have the individual theatrical DVDs, the extended DVD box, the theatrical Blu-ray box and the extended Blu-ray box. Because they were all purchased instantly after becoming available over the years that's like, a million dollars.
