The story of this is Valerian is part of time unit from the future and in the first story meet's Laureline a 13th century girl during a mission. They join force and have multiple adventures from that point. The movie look's interesting and since I have all the albums you can bet I will check it out. I am not sure that it will catch on however
Well, Lucy did quite well. Whether that's a sign or not, we won't know until this comes out, though.

The reason I was thinking that is because it's not well known I think maybe outside of the Francophone world. I know it was translated in other languages but outside of French speaking people taking about it I never heard from others.

True. And Lucy of course had Scarlett Johansson and Morgan Freeman.

But this looks so cool, and I love Cara. So I hope it does well.

Just like John Carter. Not sure if that bodes well for Valerian, in terms of BO.

Have a feeling this will bomb in the US but make good money internationally. Not sure if Cara Delevingne or Dane DeHaan can carry a 170 million dollar movie. The 5th element had Bruce and Lucy had Scarlett carrying their films. Looks interesting though.

and the very similar looking Jupiter Ascending had the more well known Tatum and Kunis and that still couldn't find an audience.

Looks good. Hopefully it does well enough to get the sequel Besson was talking about.

I think this could possibly fare better than both "John Carter" and "Jupiter Ascending" due to the fact that the visuals are far more eye popping/appealing and in the vein of "Avatar" than those two previously mentioned films.

This kind of sci fi always seems to have an uphill battle at the box office, unless it's directed by James Cameron of course.

The movie looks absolutely amazing. It'll sink like a stone at the box office.

Looks like it could take place in the same universe as Fifth Element and Avatar.

I'd like to see it.

Really hope this doesn't end up like Sucker Punch, all style no substance.

Lol seeing the comments on FB claiming this is a rip-off of Star Wars, Jupiter Ascending, Fifth Element etc.

Hmm. Looks alright (the trailer music - yes I know it's The Beatles - kinda annoyed me). Basically just looks like all the less-interesting parts of Fifth Element cobbled together with junk from Mass Effect. Doesn't make it onto my anticipated movies list.

Maybe the full trailer will interest you when it is released. I figure over 40 years of comics must have something special to pull from story wise.

I have no idea what the movie plot is, but I'm in. Looks visually spectacular, really impressive. I love The Fifth Element so I'll sure catch this. Hope the story is good

I love The Fifth Element so much so this really intrigued me while watching the trailer. I'll definitely see this.

For those wondering about the story:

Valerian (Dane DeHaan) and Laureline (Cara Delevingne) are special operatives for the government of the human territories charged with maintaining order throughout the universe. Valerian has more in mind than a professional relationship with his partner—blatantly chasing after her with propositions of romance. But his extensive history with women, and her traditional values, drive Laureline to continuously rebuff him.

Under directive from their Commander (Clive Owen), Valerian and Laureline embark on a mission to the breathtaking intergalactic city of Alpha, an ever-expanding metropolis comprised of thousands of different species from all four corners of the universe. Alpha’s seventeen million inhabitants have converged over time- uniting their talents, technology and resources for the betterment of all. Unfortunately, not everyone on Alpha shares in these same objectives; in fact, unseen forces are at work, placing our race in great danger.
