I would get the LE, but I'm not a fan of the "Floating heads" either. So I'll just get the standard version which looks great. I think mainly the reason why people don't like the floating heads thing is because we're all tired of seeing it on every release. It kind of ruins creativity.

I have to give Scream / Shout some applause for getting Carrie, since it is a new 4K scan of the original negative I wonder who paid for that since from what was said years ago it would require some restoration. Wonder how expensive it was... esp if Criterion possibly passed on it ... or if they were never an option. Sound like Scream won the bidding war if there was one.
I don't care much for the floating heads Limited...so I'm fine with the standard with SLIP. Curious what the reverse cover art will look like. ![]() |

But it's attached to his body.
The fundamental gripes with floating head artwork are that it tends to be (a) unimaginative and (b) aesthetically blah. I don't think anyone can say that about the original poster, in this case. The practice seems to have originated when studios decided (probably with some cause) that potential customers would be more likely to rent and/or buy a movie if they could see who's in it. VHS boxes weren't big enough to simply transfer poster artwork and have this be assured. |

I am sure Criterion will release Sisters sooner or later. They have it on Hulu (or at least, they used to). Regarding the other Arrow De Palma releases, I don't think you're missing out on much by going with the Region A, besides "The Fury" which looks FAR, FAR better than the Twilight Time did and has great extras to boot. Phantom of the Paradise has better compression than Shout's, Dressed to Kill has the best compression of any disc using the older master with the non-blue color timing, I don't really know about Blow Out but know the Criterion release is very nice, and that's all they have IIRC. I only have Obsession, The Fury, and Dressed to Kill (I got it before the Criterion came out, but I also like the look of the old transfer a lot more than the new, cooler one). I'm happy enough with the Region A versions of Phantom & Blow Out. If I was going to import Phantom, I'd probably go for a version with the less oppressive color scheme (Arrow has the same one as Shout). Last edited by cakefactory; 06-29-2016 at 05:57 PM. |
