20th Century Fox Inferno 3D Blu-ray (1953) [Region B Locked / Free]

Inferno was only released on 3D Blu-ray in the UK and USA. The initial UK release from Panamint was Region B locked but it was re-released region free. The locked edition has a blue case with a blue banner, while the region free edition has a clear case with a purple banner. There was also a region free release from Twilight Time in the US. All three releases are now OOP.

Yes my most wanted stereoscopic title (after Lumberjack Rabbit)!

Smile Saw it when I was 15, now 76

Hi. Been a 3D enthusiast since I was 15 movie (I am now 76 and have over 100 blu ray 3Ds). Inferno was one of the best. Someone please post notice when you learn it's available for pre-order. I have Dial M for Murder, In the Dark, House of Wax, and Creature from the Black Lagoon. Now if they'd just put Kiss Me Kate, Hondo, Fort Ti, and Bwana Devil on blu ray 3D, I'd have all the films I saw in 3D as a teenager.

Thanks for sharing that Phillip999! I've never seen Inferno but have been hoping for it since I always enjoy Robert Ryan!

Here's hoping that we get Kiss Me Kate, Hondo, Fort Ti, and Bwana Devil too - - - and I'm going to keep my fingers crossed for It Came From Outer Space, Revenge of the Creature, I the Jury and all of the other 50s 3D features.

Just want to add...I received my copy today and it played in my Sony 2D player. It showed me the screen where it said it couldn't play the disc because it's from another region, I pushed the 'top menu' button, and Inferno's main menu popped up right away. I chose 2D viewing and it started to play.

So...it appears that the Panamint release of Inferno is not as region locked as once thought.

Thanks and credit goes to 8traxrule for posting this finding and bringing it to my and other memebers attention.

Played Inferno on my Samsung regionA 3D bluray player as advised going to tools then title then going to title 1 Thanks alot We need more vintage 3D movies. such as Hondo, Kiss Me Kate, Miss Sadie Thompson an the enjoyable Charge at Feather River. As a devoted film buff we should see films as they were intended.

agreed. Then that leaves out all 2d to 3d conversions of old movies that were originally released only in 2d.

I tried your method first using Samsung 3D bluray player on 2D VIZIO TV and had same results using Disc Menu not Title (nothing appeared) Menu. But when I tried on Samsung 3D TV the Title Menu it would play 2D but not 3D.

Then tried Dave's post going to Tools-Title selecting 1 of 200 and worked perfectly. Thanks to both of you

When I read that it played in 2D and not 3D for you at first, I went and tested mine on my Sony 3D TV. Sure enough, the 3D would not play....just the 2D. So...like you....I tried Dave's method. When it showed that it could not play this movie because it is from another region, I went to title search and typed 1 and hit play. Played in 3D right there. Just had to check out a little taste of the 3D in this. Saw the first 3 scenes.....WOW!!!! 3D looked GREAT!!! Can't wait to check this out in its entirety on the Epson!!!

So....a gratitude of Thanks goes to Dave and you as well, Mark!!

The 3D "flaws" aren't flaws.

The left and right eye background drawings are separate renderings of the same scene.

Meaning...the same tree...isn't the same tree.

All I can say is "wow"! the 3d was great in it IMO, with a really interesting story to match.
It's late so I really can't write much more ATM as my brain has died...
