I'd much rather have Silent Rage separately as well, I'm surprised it's not been released elsewhere yet.

Was hoping for Silent Rage to be released, but not as a triple feature/one disc. If that's all that's available, I may pick it up eventually.

No one cares about the Jan-Michael Vincent film, so the triple feature is a good home for it.

Not True. I purchased this set specifically for White Line Fever - in my opinion it's easily the best film in the set.

Same here - it's a terrific movie that beats the others hands down. Despite sharing a disc with two other movies it's a very respectable widescreen transfer and even has subtitles. Considering this was one of Columbia's first VHS releases but initially only came out decades later as an MOD DVD before being released as a budget DVD by Mill Creek, I wasn't expecting the master to look this good (emphasis on good, not great). The film holds up really well too - and how can you resist a film that not only has three members of Sam Peckinpah's stock company (Slim Pickens, R.G. Armstrong and L.Q. Jones) but a scene set in a snow covered Monument Valley, a namecheck for Joe Dante and Dick Miller playing a trucker called R. Corman?

Silent Rage is the makeweight title on the disc that doesn't really interest me. I'd have happily traded it for a better bitrate on WLF or a trailer.

I have the triple feature. I typically don't upgrade movies for packaging alone. But damn, that retro slip (and presumably low price tag) are tempting. If the disc itself is an improvement (higher bitrate or whatever), I might bite.

With this being Mill Creek, let's see if the standalone disc is even an improvement. Common logic dictates that it would be, but this is Mill Creek we're talking about after all...

Was the three-pack a dual-layer disc? If so I doubt a single would look much different, since it would surely be on a single-layer and therefore you're only saving 45 minutes or so. In fact they probably used the same encode.

I have the triple feature, and when I checked out each movie, Silent Rage looked the worse for wear to me. So a proper stand alone release with better transfer and/or encoding would be great.

They all look about the same to me. If anything I'd say that White Line Fever is the best and Blind Fury is the worst. There are some compression artifacts but they don't look DNRed. Maybe some sharpening but its no ringing afaik.

Thanks for the info. So yeah, Silent Rage was already 15GB previously. I'd guess this is a single-layer disc with the exact same encode. I doubt they'd re-encode it for an extra 8GB of space. Would enjoy being proved cynical though.

I’ve watched White Line Fever way more than the others. It was the one I had never seen when I bought the set but it’s a terrific trucker movie from that period. A double feature of WLF and Breaker Breaker! is a perfect night.

No way would I take White Line Fever over Silent Rage. Which is a fun action/slasher. WLF is an ok trucker movie, but those are often kind of boring.

WLF (which I first saw as part of this pack) I thought was an awkward kind of film. It tries to have more depth than a typical actioner, but the script is ham-handed and you could play a drinking game with the number of times they mention "mortgages". The lead guy has a likeable naivete and some of the action scenes, like where he takes shotgun atop a truck are nicely done, but I suspect if someone like Don Siegel was in charge a much more interesting movie would have been made.

Anyway, my Walmart still doesn't have the single release of Silent Rage out on the shelf yet. They have the space for it..

But may take weeks before they actually bother to restock their media section.
