From a business point of view, there are still 300 million PS4 players waiting for new games, so it would be bad business to completely ignore such a great audience. That said, we're not going to see the full potential of the PS5 for the majority of games this generation it seems...... Oh well.

Cool. Not like you forced this one out 500 times before, but as mentioned PS5s are still difficult to find in retail stores. My Job had them for like a day and have yet to get them back in. And if it was PS5 Exclusive, an entire market just isn't getting to play it, that's not a good business move. But Ragnarok has PS5 enhancements such as 120fps, but calling it "Not Next Gen" just cause it's on PS4 too is a little too much, at least I heard it functions great on PS4 too.

And Graphical differences from PS4/Xbox One to PS5/Series X|S is not even major at this point. Maybe if they start throwing more intensive stuff like actual water physics, it's not going to be noticeable. I noticed more games having more framerate options on Series X for sure when they were limited to 30fps on Xbox One, that's a good benefit alone. Raytracing is neat but I'm not sacrificing framerate of 60fps just to have it if the game does it

Crazy this is going to have a 120fps mode. Curious to see how it performs.

So if that’s true & you own a compatible HDMI 2.1 TV, the game should run Dynamic 4K with FPS in the 70-80 range. The biggest advantage wouldn’t be the extra frames, it would be the halving of input lag which I’m all for. |

I know it’s not deal breaking but it’s fascinating games are still launching without photo modes and putting them in later. I love snapping screen grabs my first playthrough because it’s a while before I get back to a game usually.

Remember it's a 120fps target. Mostly it would be like Miles Morales and other PS5 offerings which hit around 80-100fps with VRR TV's. It's still great stuff for PS5 and I welcome it to every new game that releases.

Correct. Might as well put this here. I posted it in the main PS5 thread a couple days ago but it obviously makes more sense here.

Hopefully by the end of this PS5 generation of games, they'll be able to hit 240 frames per second consistently, for the best responsiveness.
![]() I remember in the old PS2, PS1 days, 24 fps was the goal. |

-PS2 launched with 26 games in NA. 21 were 60 fps. Most were 3d. PS1 and 2 had a lot more 60 fps games than people remember. PS360 gen was when frames started to really plummet across the board. |

And more devs moved to Unreal (and other middleware instead of rolling their own and being intimate with it) and in turn using it for every type of game imaginable when each version usually has issues with certain types of games. UE4 for example is what was used with Gotham Knights and it’s historically not well suited for open world without a lot of optimization and we see the result of that. Whereas UE5 is better suited for open world.

Not surprising, but the reviews are stellar. Something like 63 reviews so far, all positive.
Edit: notably, the Eurogamer reviewer said they completed their playthrough using the 120fps mode. They said it was great. Last edited by bradnoyes; 11-03-2022 at 04:46 PM. |

The battle between this and Elden Ring for GOTY is going to be brutal! It'll be like GOW 2018 and RDR2 all over again.
