Great to see MGS back in some form aswell as Konami doing something at last.

Remastering an established game from the series stops them from trying to make a new one without Kojima so I'm all for this.

I already have the PS2 original, PS2 subsistence, PS3 HD collection & PSVITA versions of the MGS3 so I'm all game for what this one has to offer. Even if there's issues they can't take the original masterpiece away from me.

Shame the new Master Collection vol.1 looks to be just the PS1 MGS and the HD versions of MGS2 & 3 ported to PS5, no sign of Twin Snakes (even though that game is not a patch on the original). Still nice for those that might have missed out till now I guess.

I'd probably still re-buy them again if a physical edition came out.

A physical edition has already been confirmed.

I think Nintendo might have the exclusive rights to Twin Snakes, which is why it's never been ported to anything else. Same with Sony and MGS4

Will be a wait and see on this. At least they’re using the original VA.

I’m still waiting on that damn MGS1 remake that seems to have been rumoured for a decade or so.

Can't remember... Did the HD remaster of MGS3 default to the rotational camera every time you entered an area? I remember complaining about that, but then played the PS2 version again after many years and found that it continues with whichever cam you used in the last area. Just not sure about the PS3 version. It changed a few things, like making Cross proceed and Circle go back in the menu, according to Sony's requirements, removing the nightmare and repeating the Debriefing theme in the end credits to make room for the Platinum Games people. Always found that last bit distasteful in film restorations and game remasters. It's not your game. Add your credits afterwards or make them accessible through the menu.

MGS1 remake died when Kojima left Konami that was his project.

I keep coming back to the fact that, if they get this right, remaking MGS1 and 2 should be a relative doddle. It's really in Konami's interest to get this right because, if they do, the investment to remake the other PS1/PS2 games would likely be far smaller with similar profits. Hell, with a full trilogy being done you'd also be able to bring in more new fans who didn't fancy starting with the third game.

Camera angles on the liquid fight are horrible in MGS1 don't playing once through again is enough for me until this thing is fully redone with current era controls.

honestly I think the lighter joysticks are the problem compared to the original PS1 controllers that had those much heavier sticks.

Sad some younger kids might pick this up and have no appreciation for it.

Still can't believe how short it actually is as-well.. I'm sure I could get it down under 6hrs doing another replay

Think you meant to post this in the Master Collection thread: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=362405

Also, the sticks definitely aren't the problem. I beat Liquid on a PS Vita with the tiniest analog sticks known to man. Just keep at it and you'll eventually get there.

The game apparently is getting flack for not looking close enough to the original, hut honestly i expected the look to be modernised and slightly imitated only. The MGS3 colours as shown off in those original game screenshots look a bit vaseline and mud.

Just the nerds who want purity... I'll take some of the great remasters (gears of war UE, COD4 RM etc.) we've seen any day of the week over replaying an original let alone emulated ps1/ps2 game lol

I personally think the footage we've seen so far is lacking in some of the atmosphere of the original. It has some real "Nintendo hire this man" energy, like someone plopped a Snake model into some kitbashed UE5 assets rather than thoughtfully adapting the original's aesthetic into the modern day. That comparison of the swamp area posted earlier is a great example - the yellow haze in the original is totally absent, which imo completely changes the mood. It's strange to me that the developers seem to care a lot about respecting the original game in some areas - to the point of reusing all the old voice acting rather than re-recording - yet arguably fumble the aesthetics.

Idk how any 2 to 3 decade old game can establish atmosphere anymore... I mean I guess kudos to you or anyone who can feel like a game that old with dated textures and controls can take you to a higher consciousness,

But there really isn't any old game in its old form that can do that for me, but I can appreciate dialogue and audio that I didn't back then

With all due respect, why do you even care about MGS3 if that's your mindset? Old games were still made with artistry and craft, and in the best cases that all still holds up today even if it doesn't look like a "modern" game. And eventually, even the latest, most cutting-edge AAA video games of today will become old and "dated" compared to what comes later. Are we just going to keep remaking MGS3 every 20 years?

Finished MGS3 last night and it still holds up. Story, voice acting, themes, presentation and gameplay are still incredible imo. The graphics are still mostly very good too. If anything, this game has aged like fine wine.

Because it's still a great game , being a good game with old textures doesn't make the game suddenly bad, same with Fallout 3, Bioshock, Gear of war, even MGS1, RE2 and so on.. But with all due respect its kinda weird you're that obsessed with it to get offended

Yeah why not who wouldn't want to play some of the best games made remade with the best available tech, same way people want DVDs over VHS, Blu-ray over DVD and 4k over Blu-ray.... I'll buy Jaws on every format they make going forward 8k 12k 10000k until I'm 6 ft under, not obsess over how it looked on DVD when I was a child
