The only game I really want to play is MGS4 since I haven’t played it at all since it came out on PS3. All the others have been re released a million times already so I’m not exactly excited for them, I’m not sure there’s anything they can do to persuade me to get the Vol 1 collection. It will probably end up on Premium at some point anyway.

Nothings ever going to compare to the first time I saw the trailer for MGS2 on VHS that came with a gaming magazine I used to buy. Then getting to play the demo that came with Z.O.E which I probably played over and over again every single day until MGS2 released lol

Gonna be awkward to play these games in their original layout without those pressure sensitive buttons unless they reform the controls to utilise the analogue triggers.

I haven't played that game in FOREVER but from what i do remember, the game is about 80% cutscenes.

The Xbox 360 HD Collection simply made it so you press LSB (L3 on PlayStation) to lower your gun while aiming. I far preferred that to the pressure sensitive buttons on PS2 and PS3.

Aren't they all? I'm playing MGS5 again at the moment, for the 3rd time, 1st time on the PS5. I really like the gameplay, and the graphics still hold up well enough. But the volume of long drawn-out cutscenes or worse, the slow-mo melodramatic posing you have to endure each time you fight those supernatural soldiers, not to mention how cutscenes can't be skipped, really alludes to just how super-inflated the developer's ego must be. At least they figured out that not letting people skip credits, when they have them at the end of each and every little mission, would be pushing it.

I must have forgotten how they also basically just gave us half of a game and then mostly just have you play all the same missions over again, but with harder mission parameters. You'd think they at least could have created all new voice-overs that might at least make sense why you're after quiet again, etc. Some missions they kind of do, others are just head scratching that they thought that lack of effort would be OK.

Don't get me wrong, I obviously must really love something about MGS5 that I'm playing it for the third time. And I have fond, but extremely vague memories of MGS4. I tried the earlier set when it was remastered for PS3 or PS4, but abandoned it early, as I just couldn't get into such limited game mechanics. I can play old DOOM games, but couldn't get into these for some reason. So I'll probably begrudgingly pick up vol 2, if one happens; not sure about vol 1.

A reliable leaker stated a day or so before this was announced that Volume 2 would contain Portable Ops, Peace Walker and Rising.

MGS4 is not on the cards at the moment, due to how much work is required to bring it to systems outside the PS3, and all the copyright-related issues that need to be worked out.

Haha. The cut scenes were ridiculously long. Definitely the longest for a game of that time. I had fun playing it though and would love to revisit it at some point.

I'm genuinely confused by where you're coming from here. MGS5 has the least amount of cutscenes and overall story content of any mainline game, and you can definitely skip the few that are in there.

Agreed. Not many cutscenes but a metric crap ton of cassette tapes.

Kojima games are almost like watching a movie, as half the time you're watching cutscenes instead of playing a video game. Clearly he should dive into directing movies too at this point.

When it's a side-quest cutscene that's not that interesting, I skip it. Though for main missions, I try to watch it if I have time. Death Stranding though, those cutscenes were a bit drawn out at times, as cool as they looked with the motion capture and great CGI model characters.

Would be nice if there's a skip button for these remasters.
I don't have these on disc, so might be interested.

Praying this will come to PC, otherwise I'll have to dust off my PS5.

If the Snake Eater remake is coming to PC I'd be very surprised if this didn't. For what it's worth, the recent-ish Konami retro collections have all come to PC afaik, and the developer message on the official website mentions it's coming to "the latest platforms."
