One of the reasons I don’t like steelbooks is the paper attached to it with the back artwork comes off when you open it and have to keep it glued to it

All of SNW Season 2 is fully completed. They finished filming almost a year ago.

No delays from the strike are going to impact this year's episodes.

That's correct, as i believe that season 1 and 2 were shot back to back, so we'll have no issues for season 2, however it is unknown how many completed scripts they have for Season 3, as they will have no problem filming those ones

I ordered the steelbook version before regular edition was announced using a discount code with other items at Moviesunlimited and they already shipped other items I ordered with it. Anyone know if I will lose the discount on the shipped items if I ask to cancel the steelbook since it was part of a minimum price purchase to be eligible for it?

I don't know what to think about the non-steel 4k. I think the horse cover that the steel is gonna use sucks. But then I don't necessarily love the crew cover so much that it really matters. But also, if I drop my steel pre-order for the regular, then I gotta wait a whole month more to finally get this series on 4k?

I got the steel on pre-order with a coupon, and the price for both versions are going to be the same in the end. So, I guess this is just a question of how soon do I want to own the discs? It's not like I'm especially in love with this show, either, lol

The steelbook cover was heavily used in promotion and goes with the show pretty well IMO. The standard cover is kind of lame since fitting everyone on it meant they're all super small, and cast members standing around isn't that interesting anyway.

I'm blanking on if or when the image actually happened though of it they just thought it looked cool.

The show opens with him riding the horse and being flagged down by a shuttle. It combines that in visual and theme with the Enterprise itself. Not sure they ever stood around on rocks posing for a camera either.

The horse/Enterprise artwork is amazing. I had it as my desktop background for a year.

It's only personal preference and taste, really. I just don't like the horse cover for the sake of this Star Trek season. Maybe if Pike rode it for more than one moment in the first episode, and maybe if he polished his saddle a bunch of times like Jean-Luc did in TNG I coulda understood it. But the dusty color grade with the Enterprise floating in the atmosphere and a cowboy underneath it all just isn't my thing =/

Didn't know a standard release was happening. Still got my steel preorder and it's in stock now so should be on its way soon. Just glad I held out and never got the blu.

Amazon says my steel won't be delivered until the 18th. That's ANOTHER disc showing up after street date. Has anyone else seen this from Amazon?

That seems low. If the information on the site below is correct (and I suspect it is) there are 58 unique shots of the Enterprise by my count (unless I am overcounting reuses).

7 in "The Cage"
8 in "Where No Man Has Gone Before"
21 in the first season
21 in the second season
1 in the third season

http://www.trekplace.com/tosfxcatalog.html

Although, Doug Drexler says there are over 100 shots in this video here (many of them might be reuses) which he put together as reference for the 2016 Enterprise Smithsonian restoration:

Super cool link!!

He did a great job.

But a lot of nearly identical shots and shots with the exact set up using the "Pilot" model vs. the "production model"

I'd say just under 50 and reused a total of nearly 700 times.

In the re-master they said they recreated every one of the old shot and then went ahead and created many, many new ones.

I'd love to see them try to use the restored model footage if they do a 4K and hope they throw in the new FX as well.

I'll buy them in 4K any way they come. All old FX, all new FX and obviously if they offer the option of choosing.

When I argue the remaster had the best intent but went wayward, this is a good example of that.

They had a higher res CG model to begin with, but it took too long to render so the replaced it with the more computer gamey looking one so they could render all these dynamic new shots in time that look nothing like a 1960s production.

Less would have absolutely been more.
