I gotta admit that the whole first 10 hours or so was a little slow (well, a lot slow) and I almost put it away in disappointment. Way too much wordy dialogue in the beginning and the boring items and lack of fundage for anything (even a pot) was retarded.

But, after beating Broken Circle and the Urn quest (did it before redcliffe even), things picked up. The dragon fight in the urn quest was probably the best fight in the game so far. They seriously need A LOT more encounters like that one. Flemeth's dragon was *****in' too but didn't have the good loot drop.

For those who can't find the beauty staff from the collector's thing, it's actually in the shop in your party camp (after you save that dwarf merch on your way out of lothering). That dwarf sets up shop in your party camp. The staff costs around 6g and is a steal at that price since weaker staves are a LOT more. The remainder of the blood armor set is found in this shop as well. You'll need some gold to get it all but you should have plenty by the time you have the str stat to wear it.

Game has really picked up as I wrap up Ogrimar now... I'm happy. I just hit ESC a lot on dialogue and take the short talk path a lot now. WAY too freakin' wordy. I just want more big dragon encounters and crazy boss fights like that (broodmother was pretty sick too). I love the really long and just grind em down boss fights like that with all the specific tactical stuff going on.

I did find a lot of bugs (in my PC version at least).
[Show spoiler] It's wide publicised that you can get infinite experience with the tube of blood thing in the first area; however, I found that after the urn quest if you walk outside you get the made xp bonus... Well, if you go in the secret door back to the frost mountains and go in and out over and over you can get that experience over and over. It's A LOT of xp too... levels fly up fast. Kinda chinsy how they over looked this thing. There's also a bug where lorium pots disappear if the toon that created them isn't in your party at the time but it seems to only happen sometimes and with no pattern that I can discern.
cool, I'm just a few hours in and seems like its chose dialogue for 30 minutes then play for 5 minutes. I'll hold out a little more and wait for it to pick up.

I bought this cause I saw the Baldurs Gate team helped make it. I can see some BG in it but not much. BG was way better then this.

It is only like that in the beginning.. then you can roam around the map where you choose and some of the places to explore are huge..

This is hands down the best RPG I have ever played.. I love the character interactions. I hope there are many expansions and or added downloadable content I can purchase.. I will snatch up anything they offer for this game.

*IF* you got into the modding and the online stuff it was a good game.

If all you wanted was a single player experience NWN was probably BioWare's worst game to date.
Actually with the infinite community Rpgs made it the best, the actually game by itself was not really all that great but the infinite rpgs that were behind the game were amazing.

I think you are saying the same thing I did...it was really good if you were into online/modding, but not so good if it wasn't.

At the time I wasn't, and it was like Dragon Age x10. Endless dialogue I didn't care about, with no treasure of note and even boss fights were just downright boring.

I really do believe it was BioWare's worst showing if you didn't do the online thing. Note that that's not slamming BioWare, I've really enjoyed the rest of their games.

Do you guys switch a lot between characters?, I mean when leaving camp do you take different people with or do you use same people all the time, I personally find the dog to be a pet and leave him in the camp all the time. Normally I just play with the Elf assasin as the rouge, Shale as back up warrior and the mage chick.
Im a human warrior this play through.

As far as I know there is no such thing. I'm in a place with no armor/gear, and I don't know of a "knockdown immune" talent. Is there even one?
Wait.. there is something not right here when did I become 4 dimensional..

I play a human warrior and most of the time I have both female wizards and the female rogue in my party. The assassin rogue sucks as a rogue because he can't open anything. If I don't need to open chests I will replace the female rogue with shale as 2nd warrior/tank.

I would love to see the 2 female mages go at it in a cat fight..

Not sure if this has been answered, but does Dragon Age resemble anything like World of Warcraft? I used to really enjoy that game until raiding with other people took away my life. If it's similar at all I'd be very pleased, especially without the online. Thanks in advance!

I play with Alister as a tank, The Cleric/Rouge as dual dagger to keep them off Alister, Me as a mage, and The Healer Mage as a Healer.

I drop the pain, and Alister is a wall soaking up everything with the cleric backstabbing everything.. and the healer keeps the melees alive.

I found at the end this to fit not only my play style but my character being a generally good person.

Every play knights of the old republic, or neverwinter nights, this game is a very story driven game full of history and lore, loves to be made.. loves to be lost.. Decisions that can result in life or death.. You have to live with your decisions be they good or bad. Oh and btw...

The game is kinda violent...

Thanks for the reply man. But no, I have never played either of those two games, I'm only really fmailiar with Final Fantasy styles and WoW. I'm sure I'd appreciate the epic story, it seems amazing, just was wondering about the gameplay and if it was close to WoW.

What I mean about WoW is that I enjoyed leveling in that game and exploring on my own, there was so much to do and so many places to explore before you hit the level cap.

Combat is moderately similar to WoW (or FFXII). You run around then click on hotkeys to use special abilities that have cooldowns. Even more so if you plan on getting it for PC as opposed to PS3 (went for the latter, myself). Gameplay, though, is tricky. Bioware RPGs are as much about dialogue as fighting. You'll spend a good deal of time just talking to people.

There's no navigable world like FFXII or WoW, however. You look at a map and click on an area to walk there. So be like playing WoW if every zone were an instance.

It's actually quite similar to WoW in many ways. The bigger boss fights (like the dragon and broodmother) reminded me A LOT of raids in WoW but with only four characters and the other three not being asshats. If I didn't like the healing, I could just switch toons and do it myself! If I hated the tanking, I could switch and do it myself! Didn't like positioning, I could switch, move, use hold command and presto! I LOVE the big boss encounters in this game. I really wish they had more of them... Seriously.

That said, there are some big fights just with general enemies that require a lot of the WoW 'instance thinking' when setting up your strats (i.e. hold in narrow places to avoid flanks, pull the enemies to you so you don't get adds, characters focusing on their specific strengths to maximize unit, etc.). They even use Combat Tactics slots where you can specifically script how your other characters will act when you aren't controlling them! Perfect for making sure your tank generates enough hate to hold the mob up front, etc.

I started with as a mage, quite because it was kinda meh early in the game (though it's way fun later when you have some juice so I just use morrigan for that now) but ended up being a rogue. Lots of fun moves and stuns and is the one class (also warrior) that you ALWAYS need in the party pretty much if you want to open chests, etc. I use Alister, Wynne and Morrigan a lot with my rogue, but lately I've been using Alister, Oghren and Wynne a lot because Oghren just cracks me up with his commentary. I'm also finding that the tactics seem to run better on warriors per dishing out DPS. Casters seem to default to just shooting their staff a lot even when you tweak their tactics (regardless of mana). I like having the big mage for monster AoE, of course, but sometimes (like big boss fights with one mob) it's a huge handicap because the single target mage spells feel really soft on damage a lot of the time.

I developed a new startegy..

Fireball
Inferno
Tempest
Flame
Shock

btw the arcane warrior is a interesting specialization
the first skill of it is called combat casting aside from
doing a whole bunch of other things, it also allows mages
to use there magic stat to take place of any strength
requirement to equip an item.

Allowing you to put mages in full plate and equipping them
with two hand swords.

I just put my mage in the dragon armor..

If you have a lot of PSN friends and prefer to play MP and/or coop; Modern Warfare 2. The single player campaign is ok, not great, and short. If you'd prefer to play a single player RPG steeped in the traditions of the Black Isle CRPG model; Dragon Age. It's no Torment, but still very good.
