Maybe I'm trying to convince myself to open it and forego a rental since the price is right and opinions more or less have been favorable.
I agree completely. I think this show has just as much replay value as any other one. Once I am done going through the episodes, I won't watch it again for a while, but I will watch it again before Season Two is released on BD. Not to mention the fact that with the way TV is going nowadays, I could always use good shows such as this one to watch when everything else I like is gone. That is a big reason why I plan on buying all of the seasons for the shows I like so I have something to watch down the road.

Oh, and Anna Paquin... Yeah, she's kinda hot.

That's what I do as well. When a new season of one of my favorites is about to air, then I usually watch all of the past seasons up to that point as a refresher, and to get myself fired up for the new material. I do this with Dexter, Weeds, Rescue Me, and I also took this approach with Battlestar Galactica and The Shield. In effect, I actually get more replay value out of my TV series than I do with most of my favorite movies.

Now I can add True Blood to that list as well. I finished watching Season 1 last night and all I can say is Wow! I can hardly wait for June 14th when the new season starts.

Are you kidding me? I watched the first two episodes last night and I'm completely hooked and it even gets better? Wow!

I'm sorry I waited this long to open my purchase as I was going to wait for Netflix to send me some of the discs to make sure I liked it. Well I bought it in the first place and sometimes you just have to go with your gut and not have conversations with yourself questioning the purchase to begin with, especially when the price is good bang for the buck to begin with and you felt you would enjoy it and that was reiterated with other's opinions.

All the females are attractive. Strictly for a roll in the hay, I'd take Tara. For the longer term, Anna Paquin gets the nod

Good to hear Robert. +1 for the last part of your comment about Tara and Sookie

My wife and I intended to watch episode 2 and maybe 3 last night, and we wound up watching all the way through 6 before bed. I love the show, and I think she likes it even more.

As usual, there are some things that bother me that just don't happen in the book, but I understand they had to take some liberties to flesh out all the characters for an entire season.

And yes, there are some damn good looking women in this show. Maudette was way hotter than she was supposed to be in the book lol.

I'll throw a little love to lil ol Maudette- who here hasn't encountered a girl with handcuffs hanging from the ceiling.

-- Just added HBO to my satellite service. I've NEVER done that just for a show. Can't wait for June 14th.

There's other good stuff on HBO. My wife did the same thing and i thought it might be a waste of money just for one show, but i've noticed i don't rent near as many "borderline" movies anymore. I just wait for 'em to hit dish. Especially movies for my kids. I mean that gets to be a little out of control when your dropping 15 bucks everytime you go to blockbuster and your coming home with Strawberry Shortcake and crap like that. I notice i'm also not going to the theaters as much, unless i feel like it's a must see. Plus, you got the Pacific coming to HBO sometime later this year.

Glad to hear that. It's really great when a blind buy really pays off like this one did.

It sure has panned out well for me so far. It has the potential of being one of the better bargains bang for buck of BD releases I have given the total play time and me liking it. I was kind of worried about replay value but no problem with that as I actually watched a few episodes an extra time so far and the plan is to watch the entire set shortly before the second one is released. Who knows how many times in between but I know it will not sit collecting dust.

I'm with "romac" who posted above as it may be hard for some folks to not continue watching past the point of where you originally intended! I had a busy holiday weekend and managed 4 episodes but really didn't intend that to happen either especially watching a few a second time!

I however don't like the enhanced viewing as I tried that with one episode in a second viewing. Some of the hints are spoilers IMHO.

Watched the first two episodes last night, and it was just amazing. So much better than watching via HBO in terms of PQ and AQ. (I had seen just a handful of episodes on HBO and it whetted my appetite for the whole series.)

I did notice some minor audio-sync issues in the first episode, especially in the scene where Tara is introduced (where she's in the store and has that hilarious confrontation with a middle-aged woman customer). Anyone else notice this?

I never really gave it much thought until my interest in buying TV seasons picked up. In terms of just overall time, you can get much more bang for your buck out of TV seasons. They may not get replayed quite as much as somebody's favorite movie, but I still see myself watching this season and the seasons beyond of this (and other shows) at least a few times. In the end, while more expensive than a movie, I think there's plenty of value. I may end up buying more TV seasons in the next few months than movies, not that I am abandoning buying movies of course.

It isn't easy for me to watch one episode of True Blood a day, but that's what I'm doing. I am in no rush since all of the other shows I watch are all done for the season except for Burn Notice. I can see why people would watch many at a time though, especially with the way each episode ends. It pretty much screams for a True Blood marathon. Maybe next playthrough.

As far as the enhanced viewing goes, it is something better watched after you've seen the whole season already. I have no interest in watching it yet, but may give it a shot during a future viewing of the season. The way the special features were implemented is pretty poor, but I guess having them on there this way is better than nothing.

I've seen some of the actors that will be added in for the second season- and you know the ladies get freaky...

I believe the thing that draws me to this series is the almost perfect unpredictability. Many shows and movies try to conjure up the freaky vibe- this show just is.

And Jason has more lives then a cat- and he really needs them
