Wasn't the new dub and translation requested by Khara though? I remember seeing Dan Kanemitsu talk about it on twitter. And I remember reading that Khara themselves chose the new cast. Feel like they would want it on a blu-ray release.

Personally I'm flexible. I'd like both dubs, but all I really need is the original Japanese audio.

Do you (or anyone) have knowledge regarding the quality of the two dub potential choices, ADV and Netflix for NGE?
I suspect most will opt for the subs regardless but I am curious if the ADV dub would be the better choice?

Other than the fact that Anime Limited just got the go-ahead to announce it, there won't be any information for a long-while. We may find out more at the end of October or during Christmas time, but for now, don't expect any big updates.

It wouldn't surprise me if it's just the Netflix English dub version but hopefully AL can try and get both on there.

Was not a fan of the new dub so would like the ADV dub . Though to be honest my recent watching of the ADV dub I was not as big of fan as I once was . So probably just watch it subbed on any future viewings .

If I can get the UE I’ll go ahead and get a region free player .

Opting for one though, probably the ADV dub. I do prefer a lot of the Netflix dub tbh, but the 'third children' thing is uber-irritating, the loss of 'Fly Me to the Moon' is mind-boggling, and then there's the nostalgia that comes with the ADV dub.

Hope Khara aren't d1cks about it....

If anyone's on the fence about which of the two different dubs should be priority on this release, the easiest answer is Netflix's dub is available to watch and enjoy - ADV's dub isn't.

My feeling is AL will try to get both dubs (Like if you look what they were gonna do with Escaflowne before FUNi surprised everyone with the kickstarter shows they put effort in) but I dont know if Khara will let them have two dubs and two subtitle tracks but who know and I hope they get Justin to author again like Escaflowne.

It'll be interesting to see if the disc ends up having the same changes the Netflix version does. I've got the old ADV singles on hand still, and I think I'll be holding on them.

Thinking if it gets a U.S. release it'll be by FUNimation and ew, I'd not buy a series such as this from them. They tend to screw it up so much.

I hope so. AL is a dedicated, high quality anime distributor so they'll likely try to include both English dubs so that everyone will be pleased.

They probably will be dicks about it. Khara are control freaks especially when it comes to Evangelion. Just look at how long it took for Evangelion 3.33 to be released here and how they were obsessed with our Blu-ray release couldn’t be released until it was perfect in their eyes. I’m even willing to bet that the real reason why 3.0 + 1.0 took so long to make is just because they couldn’t find a way to make the movie that they were happy with. I mean I get it that it’s Evangelion which will probably be their biggest franchise and can’t screw it up like they did for the TV series but 8 years since 3.0 is bananas.

They don’t even have the excuse of other series they worked on since it’s mostly just The Dragon Dentist, a Live-Action Short Movie made with Studio Ghibli, Shin Ultraman and a Gravity Rush OVA.

Well the Manga Dub was mostly the same as the ADV Dub but with some characters changed. And then the Director’s Cut Dub that changed some characters as well.

But I think Shin Godzilla and Anno being burnt out makes sense he was working on mostly Eva for most of 20 years that would burn anyone out.
