The Aus release also has a 20 minute doco "Conan The Barbarian - The Rise Of A Fantasy Legend" which is not on the US release.

But I don't know if it's confirmed.

Is the Australian disc region-free or locked to B?

BR.com doesn't say that the mono track is on there?

This one is uncut and with mono (as long as you set your player to Region A)

Is a cut/censored release compared to the Australian one?

What about the US Conan the Destroyer?
If I recall the last clarifying post correctly the "cut" section wasn't in the original theatrical release here, so it's not really "cut" just not there in comparison to previous extended cuts. The main issues with the US version are, I believe, sound problems in the new mix like some missing cues and one shot is not day-for-night when it should be, or vice-versa.

If I remember correctly, there are three versions of Conan:

US version: No narration plays over the ending, only text. Conan is alone when he confronts Thulsa Doom

International version: Narration plays over the ending. Conan is with the princess when he confronts Thulsa Doom.

Director's Cut: Same as the UK version but with a reinstated scene of Conan and Subotai having a conversation before the battle at the burial mounds

As far as I know the US blu-ray is the international version and all other release are the same director's cut as the collector's edition DVD. I could be wrong about a few details however. I know that the Conan/Subotai scene was definitely never shown in theatres as Subotai has his undubbed "surfer dude" voice throughout the whole scene, which in the other versions of the film is only audible for a single line. ( "Hey man, where'd you get this stuff?" )

So, there's no difference between this dual pack and the dual pack that was released years ago?

Not quite. There are only two cuts: U.S. Theatrical and International Extended. The International Extended includes the scene you are referring to in the Director's Cut. Also, Milius' preferred cut is the U.S. theatrical.

He is right about the 3 versions that exist. The original US DVD has the US theatrical cut, with no end voice over, no princess at the end, and no "blueberry" convo.

The Extended international version, later released on DVD, and the version put out on Bluray by Fox, has all of the above included.

The US Bluray, released by Universal, is similar to the International version, but has the "bluberry" convo between Conan and Subatai removed.

Really wish the Original US version would come out, I really don't like the international ending

Right, what am I saying is that Milius prefers the US theatrical cut with the blueberry scene thrown in. If you want to get technical and call it a director's cut I guess you can. I personally have always preferred the extended international cut.

I really don't think what you're describing is the US theatrical cut. (I didn't see it in the theaters in 1982, so I don't know for sure). But the letterboxed laserdisc, the initial non-anamorphic DVD, the HD streaming version on Netflix, and the version that's been run on US cable channels recently have all been the same 126-minute cut without the princess and narration at the end.

The regular international version is the one that's on the US Blu-ray (albeit with a goofed-up audio track), and the extended international is that plus the extra Conan/Subotai scene.

Ok, so from what I can gather from everyone here, you have

cut 1: US theatrical

cut 2: international (narration/princess added)

cut 3: extended international (narration/princess plus Conan/Subotai)

Am I right here

The US blu ray is cut 2, no mono track, the audio errors, and the night/day scene issue. Right?

So which versions are confirmed to have the mono track with those errors fixed, and which cuts do said versions have?

This is correct.

The FR steelbook, which is out of print. I have it and it is quite wonderful.

If you want the 'extended international cut' (longest available version) with mono, horse trips, and day for night... see my previous post.

And apparently the Australian release, as well, though maybe not the initial one. And both of these have the extended international cut.

I do wish Universal would put out a new release with everything corrected, and all three cuts present. As far as I know, all of the differences are in the the last 30-40 minutes, so I'd think it would be reasonably easy to seamlessly branch.

So all this applies to the Italian release you posted, the FR OOP Steelbook, and the Australian release.

Right?

In which case I'd say Australian is best if nothing else because the cover is English.
