Well opinions are like elbows and all that...

I don't think Marvel are batting a thousand either. At the end of the day Fox have done very well by X-Men, factually. High critical acclaim and great box office returns for most of the films. That's what matters in the end. While their original FF movies did suck I have a feeling this new one is aimed to be more X-Men style, so I have some optimism.

If you're never gonna be happy unless it's an MCU movie though, well... you're never gonna be happy.

I don't think it's necessarily about wanting it to be an MCU film for a good number of people. It's about them taking a series that's based heavily in fantasy and sci-fi and turning it grounded and gritty(said numerous times by the cast in interviews). I'm not saying that it needs to follow any specific storylines from the comics and even MS films make changes here and there but grounded and gritty should not be words associated with the FF.

So far I like most of their X-men films...as films, as adaptations they fall short of the mark everytime.

At least for me it has nothing to do with movies being done by Marvel Studios or not, but as to how and why the movies are made.

Sony and Fox can continue to produce Marvel franchises all they want if they're going to produce Spiderman 2/ X2 (and First Class) level of movies all they want.
It's becoming less enticing when they make entries like TASM2 or X3:The Last Stand, but it becomes borderline mind boggling when they seem to take an existing franchise's name and slap it on what appears to be something else entirely.

I'd rather they had kept going with a Chronicle 2 frankly, which is what this project sounds a lot like.

Again, until we can see the movie and judge it, these are mere "concerns". For now...

"Dark and gritty" can be done very well though, I don't get this new idea that it's always bad and films should avoid it. Now maybe it won't work for FF, I don't know, but I certainly think it deserves a chance before we string it up.

I agree that it can be done very well and I never said having movies or comicbook movies be dark and gritty was a bad thing. I simply said that specifically the FF shouldn't be grounded and gritty. That also doesn't mean it should be over the top silly and colorful like Batman & Robin but it would be nice if they found a middle ground.

what if the studio comes out and claims there was a fire that destroyed all copies of what they've recorded?

how ecstatic would we all be?

I don't think I've ever been this excited to see a trailer for a movie I have little to no faith in.

My reaction to him of all people praising this movie even though he hasn't seen any edits or cuts yet.

This is What Someone Had to Say About the FF Trailer

Quote:
It is pretty safe to say that GBRIELGRY, the man who over the past year has leaked images from the Terminator Genysis trailer, the Chappie trailer, Star Wars Episode 7, and who also released an early Jurassic World trailer synopsis has a good reputation.
Quote:
G@BRIELGR@Y @GBRIELGRY
Best upcoming teasers/trailers in order
#BatmanvSuperman "The Bat"
#TerminatorGenisys "It's doing what!?"
#FantasticFour "Burn!"
Quote:
G@BRIELGR@Y @GBRIELGRY
#FantasticFour trailer is surprisingly entertaining. Expect a grittier take but with some extremely fantastical elements too. #Optimistic.
Quote:
For Fantastic Four fans, only four days remain until the wildly-anticipated trailer for the 2015 reboot starring Reed, Ben, Sue and Johnny arrives. Attached to the UK premiere of Kingsman: The Secret Service, it makes sense why Fox would choose to debut the trailer with director Matthew Vaughn's latest movie - he is producing The Fantastic Four. January 29th couldn't come any closer and one Twitter user notorious for leaking movie material has already weighed in with his thoughts. G@BRIELGR@Y made another tweet replying to a fan for more detailed information on the forthcoming trailer.
Quote:
Petr Hrubý @petr_hruby @GBRIELGRY Can't wait to see the #BatmanvSuperman teaser. And I'm definitely curious to know what Trank really did with #FantasticFour.

G@BRIELGR@Y @GBRIELGRY @petr_hruby Couldn't be more different from the last incarnation, loose camera work, fast and gritty. Looks good, not to be written off.
Apparently this guy has leaked stuff that ended up being legit. Either way, very, very interested to finally get a look at this film soon.

When I first read 'new directions' I thought you were nuts but that actually a pretty good point.

Nobody's likely to change their minds but at least they'll have new things to ***** about

Is This Our First Look at the Fantastic Four's Costumes?

Quote:
We still have six months before Fox's Fantastic Four reboot hits cinemas but unlike Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man, fans are largely in the dark when it comes to Trank's unique take on Marvel's first superhero team. But now it looks like we might have our first look at the FF's costumes, and yes, it certainly is different!

While it isn't an official piece of artwork, the guys over at Nerdist have teamed up with an artist and a source close to the production of Fantastic Four to create the concept art for three of the film's four protagonists.
