Zimmer's scores for the Nolan films he composes for are getting exponentially better (IMO) while the films themselves are getting worse IMO. I was incredibly disappointed by Dunkirk despite being a Nolan admirer and a WWII enthusiast (I don't fetishize the conflict; I just find the whole thing to be fascinating). Is Nolan on a downward curve?

Zimmer's scores have always sounded like he fell asleep face down on his keyboard and someone recorded it until he co-worked on Blade Runner 2049. That is the only decent thing he has done.

I disagree. Man of Steel, Interstellar, and certain tracks of the BvS score are superb and as far removed from your description of his work. The Batman scores are the closest to the kind of style you're describing, but even then they aren't at all as you're suggesting.

Lone Ranger 2013 is a fun film.

Son of Saul > Schindler's List.

I don't like either of them, but I agree that the Hungarian film is better. So where do you rank Son of Saul (2015) in your top 20?

Eating poo has to be better than eating a banana. Heck, drinking a glass of pee would be better than eating a banana.

I like the implied chasm in acceptability, favouring eating poo compared with drinking pee.
