![]() ![]() Just keep your eye on it. If it starts falling apart, just exchange it. No biggie. If it's a steelbook or some other rare release case that's probably impossible to replace now, you could always argue to swap just the discs out of a different amaray case, while retaining your original one. I've done that before at both Walmart and Best Buy. ![]() |

Some slightly disappointing news. It looks like Avengers: Age of Ultron and Inside Out will be the first new release Marvel/Pixar Blu-rays (in a long while, at least) to not get full lossless Japanese dubs.
Amazon have put up the back cover for the 2D release, and while the 3D audio specs are unknown, Disney Japan's web site also verifies that Avengers: Age of Ultron will have only Japanese: DTS-HD HR 7.1: [Show spoiler] (In the case of Inside Out, the Japanese BD will carry the three English tracks, but then the Japanese audio will only be Dolby Digital Plus 7.1 and Dolby Digital 2.0.) This is kind of a shame, as Japan were the only territory to ever get full lossless 7.1 dubs for any Disney film (and essentially, any Hollywood film, as most Japanese labels or studio divisions only use 5.1 at most for dubs), and I have to admit, as trivial as it is, I'm sad that the Japanese don't get the little extra that they probably deserve, given that they usually pay high prices and have long waits to pick up Japanese-friendly editions. But the main point is: This means comparing the Japanese BD to the others is somewhat moot, since the Japanese dub will not be lossless. Disappointing, as I was kind of looking forward to the comparison. ![]() |

The Target Exclusive feature (unlike Cinderella or Inside Out) was not hosted on DMA, likely because the 2D editions are not eligible for DMA (as a digital copy is not provided with the single 2D BD release). The feature is hosted on more.marvel.com (Marvel's Special Offers site) and can only be accessed with the Action Code from the Target Exclusives. |

I watched the 3D version first and was terribly unimpressed with the audio. I haven't watched the 2D version yet, but hopefully it's better.
I'm starting to dislike 3D more and more as films like this come out. It's not worth the extra money for the abysmal 3D it provides. There have been a few great movies (Mostly Pixar) for 3D, but the live action ones are usually disappointing. I want to feel like something is going to hit me in the face! |

None of the Disney/Marvel/Pixar titles (except for The Incredible Hulk, which was distributed by Universal) have UV Digital Copy codes as Disney does not participate in UV. The Marvel 3D releases do have Action Codes eligible for a digital copy thru Disney Movies Anywhere and/or DigitalCopyPlus, but they are not UV eligible and will not redeem thru or port to Flixster, M-Go, etc. I know you may mean Vudu when you refer to UV. But Vudu is not UV and has content not eligible for UV such as Disney films. And there's still a handful of eligible UV content that does not port to Vudu either. Glad to know it wasn't just me. I had just installed a sub and re-initialized my receiver's room EQ and thought that had something to do with it, but the next movie I watched sounded great. I thought for sure I had done something to my system.

Okay. I'm confused. I finally got round to watching this (US edition) last night - bracing myself for flat, quiet sound. But it was fine - without having to turn it up). Sure it's a strange sort of mix, with music and effects pushed back more than usual, but there was real depth and the dialogue - especially was deep and rich... I'm very picky about audio.
When I went back to the menu (I skipped over the trailers and menu before watching) they were mixed way too hot. I watched with a Denon 3805 (at -20 db) powered via 5.1 analogue cables from a Panasonic BD55. |

I finally got around to watching the 2D Blu-ray of Avengers: Age of Ultron tonight.
The audio for the feature film does sound a tad bit muted compared to the way that other discs sound on my setup, but it did not detract from my enjoyment in the slightest, and I heard everything quite well. The video quality is spot-on, as I expected that it would be. Many of the scenes have a soft and gauzy look to them, because of the CGI, but that's how I remember the film looking at the theater. Avengers: Age of Ultron probably should have been split into two different films, because of the Ultron and Vision storylines, but that's a small grievance. The comic book panel vibe, with all of the characters onscreen together during action sequences, seems somewhat forced and self-conscious at times, but that's all in the fun. Captain America: The Winter Soldier remains my favorite Marvel film to date, but this one is good stuff. |

I didn't see an Infinity War thread, so I'm just going to post this here.
Am I the only one who doesn't understand why the Inhumans movie is being released AFTER Avengers: Infinity War - Part 2? Inhumans is coming out July 12th, 2019 and Avengers: Infinity War - Part 2 is coming out May 3rd, 2019. Isn't the whole selling point of the Infinity War movies is that ALL of the surviving MCU characters will be in the Infinity War movies fighting Thanos? Why would you introduce the Inhumans AFTER the Infinity War storyline is over and finished with? Also, you should end Phase 3 (or phase 4, whatever it'll be) with Infinity War and not Inhumans. Seems like it'll be anticlimactic to end a phase with Inhumans and not Infinity War. Hopefully Disney adjusts the release date for Inhumans and puts it in place before Infinity War. Saw this on Netflix recently. This "Joss Whedon" comedic timing / writing on these super heroes, which I've been tired of for a long time now, is at its worse in this movie. Shame considering that in terms of action and story, this movie takes the cake over the first Avengers film. I actually wouldn't mind purchasing the Blu-Ray just for the latter qualities I mentioned.
That said, The Winter Soldier too is my favourite MCU film to date, which makes it a shame this was the follow up. Hoping the upcoming Cap film is nothing like this in terms of cheesy dialogue and writing. |
