I never got the ire of fans on this...if they were so pissed why did the BD sell so well? For all the fans that don't like it...well there's no gun to your head saying you have to buy it.
GL = artist, SW OT's = GL's art.
I sense a debate coming up!
It sold well based on brand name and there was no alternative. Quite frankly, most of the people buying the series just don't care. Ultimately, the changes to the films (with two minor exceptions, that we won't get into) are cosmetic. Plus, most of the fan base feels a bit defeated when you get down to it. Most of us have accepted its Lucas' will, and while we may not enjoy the films as much as we all once did, its the only way to experience them on blu ray.

On the bright side we don't have to worry about any of that bickering here. Indiana Jones has involvment from Spielberg whom has learned the errors of revisionist filmmmaking with E.T. So, its highly unlikely that we see new special effects or any crap like that on the Indy sets. All we can really complain about is how bad one film out of four is (take your pick of which one, no one seems to like all 4). The best news is they did brand new remasters for the blu rays and the print of Raiders that has been screened recently is said to be awesome. So, until the extras (or lack thereof) are announced we have nothing to complain about here. Plus, the set just dropped 5 bucks on the Amazon...lol. WOOOO!

Not gonna happen, I think, as the mods won't let it get to far off track. As witnessed a few pages back: One small "blanket" warning, then multiple suspensions.

I guess it's called preventative maintenance!

I could lob a hand grandee right now by saying I think it's blasphemy they took out the snake's image in the Plexiglas and that we won't be getting the TRUE Raiders film as it was originally shot...but I won't do that!

When do you think? Our seasons are reversed so our Fall is in your Spring and our winter in your Summer.

It'll be interesting to see if Last Crusade is finally going to be being released with Donovan's line 'Precious valuables your Highness, donated by some of the finest Jewish familes in all of Germany' intact. The word 'Jewish' was only on the theatrical prints and has been rendered inaudible on every home video release and network broadcast ever since.

I could be mistaken but wasn't SW officially announced on 5/4, May the fourth(be with you)?

ive also got a framed giant Temple of Doom poster in my room. just love these movies! even though right now i got a really nice 50" HDTV, i hope one day i can afford to get a huge 70" HDTV, these movies need a bigger screen!
I have that figure as well, I love it! I've thought about posting him in this thread but never took any pics. I had a hard time finding a pose for him, as when I think of Indy, I always think of him jumping around. I like what you did there, I may steal it

That screening didn't seem to be a public one, but the Motion Picture Academy has a regular program of exhibits and movies in Los Angeles and screenings generally once a month in New York. They're open to the public on a first-come, first served basis and the screenings in New York are usually only $5.

Info at the link.

Pretty sure that's a myth.

The final shooting draft written by Tom Stoppard does not have "Jewish" in that bit of dialogue. And it's highly unlikely Julian Glover would have either ad libbed it or been asked by Spielberg to add that word to the line. The reason is, the meaning is abundantly clear without the word "Jewish" and would be too "on the nose" with it in there. The reason Tom Stoppard was paid 1.1 million by Lucas to polish the script is because he writes fantastic dialogue filled with great subtext.

I think this is a case of manufactured memory. People understood the underlying meaning of the line when they saw it in the theater and when it came out on home video some wondered where the word "Jewish" went. But it was never there in the first place. Stoppard intended us to supply the word ourselves.

How come this thread isn't sticky? I mean what indiana jones isn't a important franchise to hit blu-ray. I mean if Back to the Future,Star Wars and Lord of the rings got sticky shouldn't indy to. I mean this is just arguably one of the biggest franchise to hit blu-ray. It should have a sticky

+1000

Agree with all your points, especially considering people assume censorship and changes will occur in TV broadcasts but not in home video. So that fuels it, though whoever keeps this alive is delusional.
