Some phones will start heating up if there is a signal loss inside the theater (due to the construction of the theater). I don't want to deal with a battery drain and warm/hot phone because of this. With enough documentation, people could file a suit against MP if there is proof that the app is causing overheats/battery drain if left on too long...

I am going to be watching this situation carefully.
Be sure to let us know when your phone blows up from having location services on for 2 whole hours.

Guys/gals... turn your phone off during the movie.

Turn it on again, open app in lobby, check History, you've pinged to their locater.

Done son/daughter.

The app automagically pulls GPS data when opened so just use it to see your history. They aren't to ping the phone to see if it is there. That requires effort and that effort costs more than $25. Its cheaper to just check the GPS data coming in automatically.

I'm also sure they will only take the effort and spend the money on accounts that look suspicious.

And about seeing the same movie more than once, the text is unchanged from the old version of the terms of services. It's not new. Their official Twitter account confirmed the restriction was no longer in place (see here).

Also keep an eye on the reddit megathread about the ToS change. A user contacted MP for more clarification:

So I vote same thread, updated OP. Unless the mods can transfer the posts from this one to the new as sort of a “mega thread”.
My only concern is that so much of this thread is clutter and repeat questions that the useful posts are buried and scattered, which is why I wanted to make an FAQ in the OP. But if people want to keep the entire current thread, that's fine with me too. That's part of why I wanted to ask first instead of just doing it.
If nothing else (if they can't reassign the OP or something), I can always link to this original thread in the first post.

BTW, to those who were buying tickets for rewards and not watching the Movie, even though you were not (until now) violating the MoviePass TOS by doing this, you actually ARE violating the AMC Stubs TOS every time that you use your Stubs card in conjunction with MoviePass. Now do I think that they will ever catch you for either violation? No, I do not, but officially, it isn't allowed.

Some theaters will not scan your Stubs card if you use MoviePass, period.

That's why I took my MP to Regal. They never gave me crap

Eh I hope your right but sending this with updated rules/conditions seems to indicate it's back. And that is really, really unfortunate. I see many movies multiple times. It shouldn't matter what you watch.

This is true, but they can't stop you from using it at the kiosk.

Used my MP card and AMC Stubs e-mail address just fine last night at an AMC kiosk. My first time visiting AMC with the MP card.

If you really think about it with the big releases coming in the next months they really dont want you to see them multiple times using their service. I dont doubt they added that rule back because of this.

Hard to tell if this was deliberate or just carelessness.

Under the old plan with the repeat viewing rule, the phone app wouldn't let you check in to movies you had already seen. I just checked the app and all the movies are still available

Yeah, as a long time member, before the recent price change, if I tried to check into something that I had already seen, it wouldn't work. They obviously changed something in the app to allow this.

I’m sure with their mentality they are going:

“No, you wont be able to watch Ragnarok, Justice League, Coco and The Last Jedi as many times as you like in the next months to come! You’re gonna have to wait until February of next year when we update or terms and conditions again”

Maybe it won't go into effect until November 1st.

And honestly they probably are doing it because of the big movies coming out. Plus to limit the amount of movies you see. But I don't care about Thor, Justice League, Star Wars, etc... I just want to see Call Me By Your Name multiple times when that's out. My friend with MP said because of MP she'd go that many times with me (we both love the book) but now she probably won't.

They only updated certain sections, they never updated the entire TOS. That's too much work unless the service gets a complete overhaul.
