As I posted earlier in this thread I'd rate them like so:

Mad Max: 8/10
The Road Warrior: 8.5/10
Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome: 7/10
Mad Max: Fury Road: 9/10

So, to answer your question, yes, but barely.

Lol, I respect your opinion Goof, if you like it better then that's just your taste. I had to poke a little fun though. But judging someone else cause they don't like a movie and than thrashing them over what they do own is pretty funny since we all own crap to someone else.

You like Thunderdome that much? I would have rated it around an 8/10 had the second act been better, but that's just me.

Yep, close to secret best one.
It has the most development for Max.
People didn't want kids in their bad ass Max movies, but he needed the redemption he needed to start getting over his child's death.
He didn't want to, he wanted to hold onto the anger, but in the end he may have let go of it but he knew he was better off alone.
Too long had passed, he was a broken man and he finally admitted it to himself.

Personally speaking:

Mad Max - 6/10
Mad Max 2 (The Road Warrior) - 9/10
Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome - 7/10
Mad Max: Fury Road - 10/10

The first film is far too slowly developed for my tastes. When it's on its game it's great, but it's a snooze fest at other times. It's greatest strength is it's innovation of world/environment.

MM2 takes that formula and pushed it further, refines it, and creates a great overall film. Higher highs, and pretty much no lows. I don't outright love it, but it's often an exceptional film.

MMBT has the lowest lows of the original three, but I also appreciate how it builds on MM2. The Thunderdome itself is an inspired concept, and the ending chase is rather good. The middle is.... eh. And it's not even the sentimentality that sinks it, but rather the languidness. That being said, the score above may seem a bit wonky to some - it's not that I think MMBT is a *better* movie than MM - but I certainly enjoy it more. It's never as boring in parts like MM is, at least to me, so while some scenes are weaker than any in MM, they are slightly more entertaining.

MMFR is one of my favorite films, period. It takes the baseline established 30 years prior and elevates it all to a far more proficient, finely tuned, intricate world. It's simply a higher level of filmmaking and economy of storytelling than the other films, and most films in general. Story/characters trump plot any day of the week IMO, and it's a film that awes with each viewing throughout its runtime, which - fair or not due to the passage of time - I don't sense with the others, aside from a couple scenes in MM and 4-5 scenes in MM2.

But this is just this one viewer's opinion. There's certainly arguments to be made counter to the ones above, especially when it comes to taste. I think the most broad objective statement that could be made about the four films is that they are at worst serviceable entertainment with unique approach to their created worlds. Which one bottoms out in that regard is gonna depend on the viewer.

...

My ratings scale:

10 - Excellent (the movie is not necessarily flawless)
9 - Great
8 - Very Good
7- Good
6 - Okay
5 - Mediocre
4 - Poor
3 - Bad
2 - Terrible
1 - There Is No God

Thunderdome is great, I never got the hate. Maybe you can relate. Don't insult, makes me deflate. Enemies of Mel at the gate!

Shit, sorry.

What I've always said about Thunderdome:

Brilliant first act.

Terrible second act.

Pretty good third act.

...it actually has the deepest story and the most thematic substance of any of the four Mad Max movies imo.
