Gwyneth Paltrow (it's her lifestyle brand).

Yes, to the extent that watching the film in 2D just feels like watching a colour film in black and white. You can't shake the knowledge that your viewing experience is not what it should be.

That would be like taking the black and white version of a colour film and colourising it yourself. No substitute for the real thing.
Portman's return does remind me that director Taika Waititi did tweet that he would ruin our mythos in a minute. Interestingly, the Russo Brothers ruined Taika's mythos for Thor with Infinity War, and his nature made him work so well in Free Guy (RIP 3D blu)

I've seen some professional 3D conversions that don't look like they truly fulfill what the on-set stereographer + director set up, and I can't help but wonder if an autoconversion would give more depth and protrusion both. To go back to the analogy, maybe folks at home could colorize better than some of the pros?

And I'm still trying to run down why some on here are saying that TASM2 3D is amazing (ahem) while my watch group and I were left going "this movie looks like it ought to be far more 3D than it is".

I have to disagree. My Oppo converts some movies to 3D better than some “official”. You don’t get pop outs, but some real don’t either and the depth can be impressive. I wish I could invite everyone over, because that’s the only way you’ll believe.

I will never believe that an auto conversion will ever come close to a professional, frame by frame 3D conversion.

You are correct.. I guess I’m saying it’s worthwhile. Similiar to upmixing audio.

After Panman’s mention watched Huntsman a winter war. Very good 3D, a dts-x soundtrack and a movie that’s pretty good. Highly Recommended.

Edit: lots of hot women and plenty of pop outs, excellent overhead effects.

I haven't seen anything get ruined in the entire run of the MCU. Instead, it just keeps getting better and better.

And Natalie returning is definitely super duper exciting. Can't wait to watch her! (in 3D, hopefully)

My TV also does a decent job autoconverting but it's still no substitute for a professional job.

Agreed, this was the point I was trying to make.

Anyway, to stay on topic I have the French Dune steelbook coming, just because I hate the standard artwork.

I will watch it some other day and give it a second try. there was absolutely ZERO pop out which I thought was a big let down. anytime a monster attack, it should have been straight up your face. the depth is also very very subtle. this is the first movie in my collection that I don't see much added in 3D.

It's my taste... i understand why there are people that love that kind of filming. The thing is that when i see those scenes my brain doesn't accept them... and in those slasher movies i start to laugh because most of the action are nonsensical to me and i can't watch them with people who like those kind of movies(they tend to be frightened, focused on the moment and silent while i'm laughing at it).

Croods: new age and Boss Baby family business out for delivery. 11 days from Amazon.de

Edit: both arrived with slips for those interested in cardboard. Croods is rated 0 so ok for fetuses.

Watched Pacific Rim Uprising. The movie not as good as the first, but the 3D and Atmos soundtrack are both very good. Recommended.

Edit: The heady days when the combo came with 4K and 3D!

I prefer Uprising to PR but PR has the better 3D (and aspect ratio for 3D).

Has anyone ever heard of this one? Just got 3d version from comments here. Excellent conversion with really good 3d. Story not my usual preference, but the 3d, in my opinion, makes it way better than I remember. Crystal clear picture. Spoiler: No monsters, spaceships or car chases.

I last watched Beauty and the Beast. The live action remake from 2017. Pretty decent 3D. Some sequences where objects hit the screen. One in particular involving a
[Show spoiler]snowball
always makes me flinch.

PR is the better film in all respects except maybe one. The 3D version of PR is the best version hands down but HDR versions are equally great but for different reasons. The 3D version of Uprising looks nice and like GvK seems to provide scale but this is yet another one I have yet to properly sit down and watch.

Dune will probably jump my viewing queue this weekend.
