I'm curious as to when these films will take place. Surely one of them will take place during the 6 year time skip that we just entered tonight.

The worst decision they could have done.

The main character. He opened his eyes to start the show. We were introduced to this show through him. To keep the main character 'alive' and off doing something off-screen while we have to follow the secondary characters is the worst writing ever. You don't have Batman off doing something and we focus on Alfred. If you keep Rick alive, the viewer has to follow his story. Period.

I believe they kept him alive in hopes some people would tune in every week hoping to see him. They are hurting for ratings, and Rick leaving the show is the final nail in the coffin for most.

On top of everything, these 9 seasons in story was what, 2 1/2 years of the apocalypse? So we have seen 2 1/2 years of Rick's journey, but now they do a 5 year time jump? What happened in those 5 years? All of what happened in 2, we could only imagine what happened in 5. They only did this to age Judith right?

2 stupid writing decisions.

Or maybe all of them will. And you know that characters who have gone missing on TWD and FTWD could very well show up.

Has their ever been AMC feature films? I'm excited, but how will it differ from a 2.5 million episode? Will it be a 100 million dollar two hour special?

I'd want it in theaters though. Make it R rated and full of swearing lol

Supposedly Gimple and Lincoln have had this plan for like 5 years now. Wonder if some of the films were basically done years ago.

I partially agree with you. My first reaction was that they clearly didn't have the balls to kill Rick and lose half of the remaining fan base. Now I'm unsure because having a movie based around his life during this 6 year time skip could be super cool. I can't sit here and complain because this is all great news.. it just seems kind of weird to me. AMC pulling an AMC, what else is new I guess.

Glad that Rick Grimes didn't die but why then promote it as his last episodes from what I and the whole world took that is that he was gonna die. And wtf the zombies now talk I mean I'm all in for new changes so far the season is shaping up to be epic and even Negan is becoming a better character locked up then when he was free being a bad guy.

AMC did do that Survival Sunday event with Fathom Events, so at the very least you can probably expect them to do a Fathom showing for the Rick movies too.

I agree this is a good season so far. The best the show has been since season 4 imo. After the first episode of season 5 is where the show became repetitive. Looks like their breaking that routine.

I did think to myself what a
[Show spoiler]cop-out about Rick, but when he was on the helicopter
I was feeling it.

Andrew Lincoln wanted out of the show because he wanted to see his family. Obviously he came to a compromise and decided a movie every two years would work.

The characters don't know Rick is alive. The show jumped ahead those SIX years to show how much they've grown in his absence.

And I'm sure those Rick movies will cover what happened in between the time jump.

Didn't they do a batman story where nightwing took over as batman and I'm pretty not sure thats the first time they've given the mantle to someone else. And also they are doing an Alfred show lol so i guess this is the big year for secondary and supporting characters

Yeah, Gimple and Lincoln are very close friends. That's the impression I got when they were interviewed.

Did her and Rick speak even once throughout the series? Seeing her was lame as hell, felt nothing during that moment. Shane? Best of the best for me, my favorite character and I loved the moment. Hershel? Touching and another fantastic character from the past. Sasha? No thanks, I'm good.

He's supposedly signed on for at least one episode next season as well.

In the trailer for the next episodes. If you watched the original trailer for this season very closely you would have caught the same thing. What sounds like zombies talking.
