That may be, but when people buy seasons of TV on physical media they want ALL seasons to be available on the format that they have chosen. Six seasons of Game Of Thrones remain limited to blu-ray and that bugs some of its fans a great deal; we don't like switching between formats when we watch something.

I had seasons 1-6 already so only needed 7 and 8 and was happy 8 was uHD BD.

I'd be happy to get S7 whenever it's on sale. I have it steaming already.

In time hopefully I can replace all my BD with UHD BD ... maybe not... I still have DVDs that haven't made the jump yet.

So barring UHD BD ... was the show ever available 4K ? ... ?? I remember watching it during broadcast but I didn't have a 4K display at the time and I also watched it at a friends house and they didn't have 4K either.

Game Of Thrones has never been broadcast in 4K and it has never been offered via streaming in 4K. Season 1 & 8 on 4K disc are all that has been offered thus far.

You need season one 4K GOT to get season 2 quality.
The show was never 4K, as HBO subscription is only HD. A few shows have been released as 4K (Westworld) additionally.

I got my drivers license in May of 1969 and my first car: 1964 Impala SS convertible.

All my friends worked at the hotel. On the weekends we would go to other hotels in the area like The Concord, Kutchers and The Pines to hang out. Each had a night club where drinking and dancing were held (different from the large stage rooms where the weekend shows were held).

There were no staff only dance rooms as depicted in the movie simply because they didn't exist. You got dressed up and went to the night club.

It was a fantastic time for me. Had tons of money from all the tips I received and most of all a new crop of city girls every weekend who desperately wanted to mingle with the staff.
I was talking about something very similar the other day when the question came up “If you can go back to a period of time to re-live, what would it be?” Mid 80s summer jobs at Ocean City Maryland was my response. I was a bartender with a Mustang GT and a mullet. I was always tan, bar hopped just about every day, and worked off a hangover playing beach volleyball. There was definitely no dancing involved, but everything else was just about the same. Plenty of cash in the pocket and every week a seemingly endless supply of young ladies to charm. On a side note and an attempt to tie back to the current subject, the movie Violets are Blue with Sissy Spacek and Kevin Kline was filmed at Ocean City while I was there.

Oh boo hoo. The BD's look better then watching it on HBO or other providers by leaps and bounds. Most TV content never gets to be issued in 4K, you know that from your years of building your collection.

Having just 25% of a TV series offered on 4K disc is annoying to those that made these purchases because they hoped that the other seasons would follow. It is not as aggravating as when a series is initially offered on blu-ray only to have later seasons relegated to DVD, but once your expectations are set by the superior format, you want that higher standard to be maintained for the duration.

In case you haven't figured it out yet, most of the people that purchase content on 4K disc want the best that is possible and blu-ray isn't it. They don't want to have to switch between the two once they buy, and especially rebuy, seasons of a show.

I have zero sympathy against this issue. I have patiently waited for TV shows to becomes available on Blu-ray. 4K releases are exceedingly rare. I just went and acquired a few more of the new seasons of Doctor Who since BBC America gave HBO MAX a exclusive. Only twice upon a time is 4K.

We can discuss other TV series out there, but this is a topic that I really don't care what most people prefer, its more to just making something released on Blu-ray available instead of being stuck with numerous shows only on DVD!

For my own take, I want the rest of the seasons on 4K ... but It's ok if it takes a while because they are expensive.

With that lackadaisical attitude towards the best quality and finishing what has already been begun (namely offering an entire series on whatever format upon which it has been started), I am surprised that you did not just stop with being a beta tester for DVD players.

I never said I wouldn't mind 4K TV series releases, but TV shows in general are not very high on the studios efforts to satisfy fans. Most 4K releases with TV shows are merely marketing tests of sorts. None of them generated that much income. Perhaps when Netflix live version of The Last Avatar is available something like that will be available on 4K UHD BD. But AT&T HBO dream on.

We all know that the selection of TV content on 4K disc is scant, which is all the more reason why people get hopeful when they do start to release seasons of a given show on the format. When they abruptly stop doing so, people may feel kind of cheated with being forced to then go back to a lesser format. This feeling of being ripped off is compounded even more when it is a show that they have started to rebuy because a season or two appeared on 4K disc.

Is there sales data available for those TV shows on 4K disc? Big difference in disc production costs between a single movie and an entire season of episodes.

The two GOT examples being discussed are something that the directors probably pushed to have released to rectify the filming negatives. You could look at Dec 03, 2019 for s8 and see how it tracked on the mediaplay 4K titles sales. S1 is older released Jun 05, 2018.

You could look at how the the seasons of westworld fared in 4K. Season 3 is not released (2020)

There is sales data on everything, but finding title specific sales data can be challenging especially once the title is no longer a new release.

Wow, that picture in the link you sent looks like the absolute worst way to experience a movie. But I understand there are people who enjoy it. I just find the extraneous activity distracts from the viewing experience, which when I go to a movie is my primary concern.
If you noticed the film that was playing, it looks like Audrey Hepburn and is therefore an old film. It's more about atmosphere than "seeing a film". I've been to restaurants where they play silent films. Again, it's not about seeing the film. It's just providing some visuals that move.

Having said that, I don't like theaters that serve food at the seats. And the main reason is that at the Alamo Drafthouse that I went to, which had a very nice environment and great sound and projection, the tables had little lights underneath that could not be shut off. It drove me nuts. An otherwise great theater, but I won't be back.

Personally, I don't need food or lounge seating, but theater owners claim it puts people in seats. Who am I to argue? But even before the Coronavirus, AMC only averaged ticket sales of 92 tickets per day, per screen. That's about 23 tickets per show. Did lounge seating and food really put people in seats? Obviously that's not sustainable.

I found this. Opening sales week for GOT S8. UHD-BD reached 10% which is included in the 53% overall BD share.

Look at Aquaman - 49% BD and 23% for UHD-BD (again included in the 49% #)

That's all very nice, but what about the sales data for the blu-ray of Kaiju Mono released on Aug. 14, 2018?

I need to know how many people share my taste for fine cinema.

First ever sneak peak at JL per Zack Snyder, also a blatant HBO MAX ad.
