Actually, the UE's will have DTS-HD Master Audio. They WILL have way better AQ than Dolby TrueHD, and you really owe it to yourself to hear the DTS experience, even over PCM.

plus they have 6.1 DTS HD MASTER for theatrical edition and 5.1 DTS HD MA for extended !! so I am sure it will be worth upgrade !
hopefully it will be better compare to 5.1 PCM or DolbyTrueDH, of course if it was REMIXED to 6.1

You guys like the art alright? I'm just hoping that if they release these, that all future 6 ones get the same sort of art.

No official announcement yet but my guess is 3 and 4 will come out next summer and 5 and 6 will be released before Deathly Hallows Part 1 hits theaters.

As for the cover art, there's a pic somewhere (more of a thumbnail actually) of the whole series and each one has a different color scheme. They're all the same style box however for continuity. If I can find that pic I'll post it.

I'm glad I found this thread. I've never bought any Harry Potter films because I wanted extended versions. I'll be picking these up for sure.

I would really like it if they included more characters to the cover art, kind of like the Sorcerer's stone original art.

I know that ABC family aired what they called "extended" versions of the first three movies which were just the regular movies with the deleted scenes added in. I saw parts of the first two and sat and watched the whole third one when it was on a few years ago. The 3rd film was quite disappointing and included only a couple of the deleted scenes from the dvd that amounted to maybe two minutes, some of the scenes could not be added back I assume. Any chance these releases, at least some of the later ones, will include scenes that were not part of the deleted scenes of the dvd releases??

And here's to hoping they will really spend some time and perfect the A/V. I recently watched parts 3 and 4, part 3 there were a few instances where watching with full pixel mode/no overscan there were a couple times where white (when the kids are sitting down in the train) was on the left side of the screen. Part 4, not sure if this was my tv, but there were also some compression issues in the cloudy night sky above the clock tower and also on the back of Lucius' black hood when Voldemort is addressing him at the end.

I want the extended versions as well, even though they don't add much. I'd prefer it to be like LOTR, but nothing like that exists for Harry Potter.

John Williams' score elevated the first film in my opinion. I am eagerly anticipating hearing this in extremely high quality, especially considering I have never watched/heard either of the current blu-ray releases for the first two films.

... Also eagerly anticipating the release for the third one because JW's score for that film was completely inspired and fresh, the best score for the entire series.

I think I heard a rumor that they are going to add like over an hour to harry potter and the order of the phoenix making the movie over 3 hours and they have about an hour to add to half blood prince.

Good to see someone else who thinks that. Azkaban is by far my favourite HP film. I imagine these will be region free so I'll be importing as the sale price for these here is double the price of buying and shipping on Amazon.

I think LOTR and The Abyss are in a league all their own as far as extended versions go. The extended version of Aliens was nice also IMO, but not as significant. Everything else just seems to be some extra footage put back in here and there, but I still like having it.

It's a small picture but here are the spines of the entire UE series (bottom right):

Whether or not they'll be released in one giant box set when they're all released is unclear yet but I think it's safe to assume.

I thought the second film in the series had pretty good PQ, while the first definitely could use a new transfer. If the Ultimate Editions contain better PQ, I may pick them up sooner rather than later, if not then I may wait. Either way, I can't wait to see a review for these.
