I was born in 87 but grew up on things like this, The Rockford Files, Magnum P.I., The A-Team, Miami Vice, Bonanza, Star Trek TOS, The Six Million Dollar Man etc. You name it, it was syndicated. I thought The Fall Guy, even though altering the story of its main character to fit the narrative, was pretty respectful. Lee Majors is an icon and the fact they
[Show spoiler] was a nice nod. And I'm no fan of country music but I though Blake Shelton's cover of The Unknown Stuntman wasn't bad, even with the altered lyrics.

Watching the ending credits it seems like there was a fair amount of stunt work in the movie. The way the movie was filmed I couldn’t tell what is real or CGI. I don’t know if that’s a compliment of CGI or a criticism of how the movie was filmed.

Born in 78 so grew up in the 80s loving the original TV show with Lee Majors.
Just saw the movie today, pretty packed theatre but this is NOT a good movie. The story and dialogue are bad, far too much screen time for the boring Emily Blunt character, her and Gosling have no chemistry either. Felt like the whole tone of it was wrong, they should’ve aimed at something similar to the much, much better Starsky & Hutch movie. 2/5 |

The filming of some it too. Yeah. Like that jump at the end, I thought it was real but the way it looked in the frame didn't look good to me. The film probably needed to rear back on a lot of the color manipulation in certain parts. I was glad to see that they did show it was real but some of that stuff looked better than what we got in the film cuz we could fully see it in a way to really awe at it. I did chuckle when we saw that car flip in the film, making me think if they broke the Casino Royale. And they did. So that was pretty cool. As a fan of stunt work, I really enjoyed the film a lot. I just love seeing a lot of how they make the magic. I'm a nerd for it. --------- Saying all that. Feel like the film could have been cut a good bit. Tightened for sure. A lot of needless bits throughout where if you cut it out, it doesn't matter. Leitch isn't a man with a real voice but he does know how to do stunt work for sure. I can never fault his stuff in that I will more than likely enjoy the action in it. Which makes me really question what kind of director he is. Is he someone that can really get the stuff done that a producer would want w/o question, especially if they're staring in it? I feel like I can tell a Leitch film by looking at it kind of. I dunno. Fee like he is missing some spice to his direction somewhere. The gist of the story had some real fat to it. At times I felt like you could have tightened it by a good 20 minutes and it would have been better. The ending was funny to me w/ how Metalstorm ended up as. [Show spoiler] It just kept elongating a film that needed to be cut down. Feel like the tone could have been more darker or grittier maybe. Feel like a more serious tone would have worked better for the circumstances involved. It's like it hit a lot of tropes but didn't do them unique enough. Just something, man. Enjoyed Gosling and Blunt, they were good. Loved seeing Blunt's little bit of action on her character. That looked real good for the character. Not too far blown that it was eye rolling but just quick and hard enough that it didn't feel fake even in the realm of that character. I did enjoy it a good bit. Stunts were pretty cool for sure. As stated, some of the shots for them didn't really do justice to them. Which made me question if what I got was real or not. Add in that color palette chosen too. I'd buy it for sure, I just love backdrops of movie making like this and the film works well mostly. So it works out for me. It's decent. And that's about as high as I can praise it. But I did enjoy other aspects of it a good bit too. |

One of the best movies of the year.
The hottest Ryan Gosling has ever looked. See it on the biggest screen possible before Universal dumps it on digital in 14 days. |

I rather enjoyed this one overall. It's a nice, slick piece of light-hearted old school action filmmaking. Ryan Gosling crushes the titular role and is so fun to watch here, I have to assume it was written specifically with him in mind. The action scenes are a blast with excellent direction and practical stuntwork on full display, there are plenty of funny moments, the meta humor about movies works nicely and isn't too overdone, and there's some genuine heart.
Admittedly, rom-coms are a tough sell for me, therefore I wasn't totally buying the chemistry between Gosling and Emily Blunt at first, although it did eventually improve for me. I also think the pacing is a bit uneven, there are a few scenes/gags that overstay their welcome, this could've used a bit more trimming. Also, the climax is lots of fun for sure, but the reveal leading up to it feels really contrived, it's kind of jarring for a movie as clever as this to have such a standard twist villain reveal. All in all, I think this is a solid 2-hour movie that could've been a great 90-100 minute movie. 7.5/10 |

Completely disagree with this. A few of their scenes together it almost looked like they were ready to laugh like they were breaking character on a SNL skit. It looked like they had a fun time filming together.

I thought this was a fun, well-made popcorn movie, which I'm sure is all it was intended to be. I also felt Gosling and Blunt did have some pretty good chemistry, and as expected, the stunt work was very impressive.
I've seen a few comments online suggesting that the disappointing box office may be partially due to unfamiliarity with the IP, and I feel like if that's the case, then we really have gone around the bend on this franchise mentality we've been stuck in. Although it's inspired by an old TV show, the movie is very much it's own standalone entity. The only thing it requires to fully enjoy is a general familiarity with the standard action movie tropes that it both spoofs and indulges in (and a healthy suspension of disbelief, of course). In recent years, we've been so inundated with self-serious, lore-heavy, multi-part arcs in our blockbusters (many of which I've enjoyed), I hope we haven't forgotten how to enjoy a straightforward romp that just exists for its own sake. |

Overall, I enjoyed it.
Really liked Gosling, the action setpieces and all the stuntwork, but found most of the scenes & the story with Blunt to be extremely meh. I think I would've preferred the movie to just be about Colt, Tom Ryder, Producer Gail, the murder plot, and Jean Claude, without all the rom-com folderol. 7/10 |

The Fall Guy had a decent attendance in theaters:
Domestic (43.6%) $28,500,000 International (56.4%) $36,903,000 Worldwide $65,403,000 I'll watch it when it's on Tubi or Freevee. Quote:
[Show spoiler] That would be cool. I hesitated with this film and waited on the fence, unconvinced by the joke filled trailers with no sign of who the main villain was. |

i had no idea this was a TV show until my buddy explained the cameos at the end. i was looking forward to this one but it did feel like a 30 minute premise dragged out to 2+ hrs. i was really really over it by the end. wouldn't say it was bad, there was a lot to like, just kinda overstayed its welcome w/ me

Sorry, but "Jean Claude" is not Van Damme. And the reason there's no indication of who the main villain is in the trailer is because it is a mystery.
