+1

Couldn't care less about that poster.

It appears that this will be the ultimate release that the BU (which I already own) should have been. Looks like Arrow got it right for once.

I will definitely get it.

Damage is already done, they announce something as a bonus and then days before the big street date they take away that bonus and announce it will only be available on their limited edition run of 500 which conincidentally seems to be the most expensive version to buy.

Only the true diehards will forgive and let live since most will have already had the money taken out their bank accounts months ago so wil be in no position to moan anyway but yet another black mark against Arrows name. One step forwards two steps back it seems to be. When will this company ever get it right.

It will also be available on the steelbook as well which appears to be cheaper than the limited edition. If you're going to embark on a trash campaign, get your info right.

Let me guess - if I answer in the affirmative, you then get to say something along the lines "well typical, Cult Labs/Arrow Fan boys come out of the woodwork and will defend the product to the death, irrespective of all flaws". All members of Cult Labs are biased and therefore their opinions should be disregarded.

Something along these lines?

Just pre-ordered, 11 pounds really is too good a price not to buy. And I'm liking the effort Arrow have put in.

Not fussed about a little rinky-dink poster, I'm nearly 40 not 14 yrs old. If I want posters, I buy full sized ones.

I found this interesting:

http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film/dvdcompare3/zombie.htm

The BU version is quite heavily cropped in comparison to the Arrow equivalent.

No, it is not.

I actually work with quite a few companies both in North America and Europe and can tell you for a fact that booklets and other printed content are the last to get in a package. I have had various press releases from Criterion sent to me with essays that were intended to appear in a booklet, or featurettes, for example, that did not make it when I received the screeners for review.

This is also a very common "issue" with French labels. I get a press release with the preliminary specs and supplements detailed, but when the market version arrives there is different content. Or content is simply missing.

The reality is this: Right until the very last moment changes are made.

Bottom line is this, an enormous amount of work and efforts went into this release to make sure that it pleases fans of the film. It is very, very obvious.

Pro-B

Saw the reviews and caps here and at DVD Beaver.

Arrow release looks much better than the scanner noise and noise reduction littered mess that Blue Underground put out.

Well of course the Arrow release was going to be much better...it was obvious.

Arrow always go that extra mile in terms of their Blu-ray releases

Someone from the UK with something good to say about Arrow.... my mind is blown!

I never got the hatred some peeps seem to have for this label,as I think they totally understand the films, what the fans want and how to present it all in a respectful fashion. Arrow can't be praised highly enough for what they're doing, imo.

Arrow releases are a labour of love.

Agreed.

The bad rep they get from some people is totally unfair.
As you said, they completely understand the films, and more importantly understand what the fans want.

Their packaging and presentation is second to none imo, and for me personally they as a company deserve the highest praise possible.

Outside of this one, I can't think of a single Arrow title that has bested the BU equivalent. Most are flawed in both cases, but even those that aren't (like INFERNO) have ended up better on the BU releases. Outside of Arrow Academy releases, a lot of Arrow titles haven't been too hot. But like Demons, this one was given a fresh scan at a better lab and the results have clearly been better. I hope that Arrow continues with this practice for future titles, though it'd be better if they were region free.

^ What he said. Deep Red, Inferno (although imo, the best version is now the German Koch Media equivalent), City of the Living Dead & especially Bird With The Crystal Plumage are all superior BU releases. Nice to see it now working the other way around.

It will probably be a big seller for them so it's a win-win situation.

They should try and do it more often. Can't wait to watch my copy.

This is a fantastic release

p.s.
During the film's opening credits, immediately after Lucio Fulci's name appears, I noticed I small skip. Since I do not yet have a market version of this release, I have contacted Arrow to clarify whether the skip appears only on my screener. Will update when I hear back.

Edit: ^ Apparently, it is a sharp cut which only my disc (not a final pressed copy) isn't handling well.
EPIC. Thanks very much Pro-B.

So, how does it compare to the Blue Underground blu-ray? Any reason I should switch over?

... which is bad transfers often smothered in DNR?

Sorry, but no! Arrow get their bad rep precisely because they have messed up so many times before and released subpar transfers. Their track record is horrible!

Who cares if they have wrapped their shit up in nice paper and bonus features. A turd is still a turd with or without the bling.

But of course, when they (finally) get something right, like the Demons release or this one, Arrow also deserve to be praised.

Better transfer without the video noise of the BU and other extras.

I have the BU, but I am definitely going to get this too.
