This is great. There was no way I would buy the big box (just too unpractical for me) and the American set is about twice as expensive (with customs, etc.). But now this is something I definitely want

Yeah I like the big box, but those things just take up all the space. I'll have to see more info about the contents of both, quality of boxes and any price changes before I make a final decision.

Yeah, I agree; but I'm still having trouble deciding which release I want

Alfred Hitchcock: The Masterpiece Collection Blu-ray )

I guess I won't have to import the US edition then.

Can't it just be a bundle of all the films in individual Amarays in a big box?! It seems very odd they are releasing two different bookstyle releases in the UK. I'd buy the individuals in a box in a heartbeat, but I don't won't my BD's without proper no-disc-scratching covers!!

Given the fact that its a 14 film set, I highly doubt that. Would take up far too much space.

Universal are doing the same with their Monsters release a standard style boxset and the Limited Edition coffin packaging.

However for Hitchcock there is currently little price differential as on Amazon the standard boxset is only £2.49 cheaper.

I have the feeling it will be a digistack.

Not too much for me.

I'm definitely getting the original Hitchcock set, because of the goodies inside, although I really like the look of the new set

The Universal Monsters one I am getting the normal set. I want the other one as it's more special, but I need to see what it's like inside first. Again though, I do prefer the look of the box for this one

Choices, choices. At least the Bond set has only one version

I'm holding out for single amaray releases. I won't be buying a boxset unless I absoulutely have to. i.e. they wont release single. If that happens I might just buy empty cases and search for custom artwork for amarays.

I'm going to wait for reviews to surface of this, the Monsters set and Indiana Jones before I make purchases of them.

And, let's face it, the prices of them will decrease a fair amount within a couple of months anyway - especially in Amazon's Black Friday deals!

The DVD set had individual slim cases. Definitely not a large set by any means.

I am only interested in purchasing The Birds and Vertigo so I hope single releases will be available shortly after the boxset has been released.

Just buy the set, you absolutely will not regret it.

Kinda bugs me that people only want certain movies. There is no greater director than Hitchcock. Even if you haven't seen all his movies, take a chance, buy the set and watch in amazement.

Alfred Hitchcock: The Masterpiece Collection Blu-ray

I'm in the US and I will be pre-ordering this new set, not only for the cost but I think the cover art is also better.

To import to the US is about $131, which is much better than the current $225 price.

One big question I have is if I can take the clear plastic off and the base and just have the inside thinner case so I can put it next to Bond 50 and my other more normal sized sets.

I agree it does look a bit big, but if I can ditch the plastic with the birds in the back and loose the cumbersome base, I'm totally down with picking the larger UK box set up.

Same!

I will wait for a review first. I'm glad I held off from the David Lynch boxset due to the transfers on some of the titles! Hopefully this set has good transfers etc.

I'm going for the big set. I reckon that'll be the first to disappear and will have some resale value, whereas the other set will quickly plummet in price and become the only edition available.

I also think there's every chance the smaller set will be a digistack which means that we'll miss out on the rather nice-looking interior of the US edition (and probably the disc art too) so the only benefit would be space-saving.

I was a little torn at first, but looking at how expensive the U.S. set is and the big Cock on the cover is a little bother some to me. I was looking at the UK sets and then I realized I already have big a$$ box sets for other less great movies in my opinion. So why not get this big box set it looks really sharp and it will fit well with my other sets and Hitchcock is some one to be celebrated. I wish I would have gotten the big Kubrick set but I had already had most of the movies when it went on sale. Kubrick and Hitchcock on a shelf displayed next to each other in all their glory would have been nice.
