I was pointing out the fact that somebody would give the original, which looks so bad, such a good review. You didn't get that?

I got that, but who cares?
What has that got to do with this upcoming release?

I thought it'd be interesting to know. If you're that offended I might as well delete it.

I'm not offended. Just think it's odd someone would post a 6 year old review about a BD that is getting a remastered release.
As for that reviewers thoughts... well as we get further into the medium's life cycle, and early BD releases are being revisited, we are seeing a lot of older reviews that are head scratchers. I don't think it was anyone's fault, per se, just a victim of retrospect, perhaps.

My local Best Buy had this in stock. It was part of a large Warner Bros 90th Anniversary Display. All the other titles were repackages, all with "Best of Warner Bros" artwork. It came with a DVD and UV. However, I noticed that the disc had the exact same artwork as the old one. I popped it in my player and it was the exact same disc! The artwork is updated advertising the remastering and the new features, so maybe they were trying to sell off some old stock before the new one came out and accidentally put them in the new version's artwork.

Yup, typical Warner, wrong discs all the time.

I knew this wasn't supposed to be out until Sept 3rd, but it was the white cover that caught my eye. I scrutinized that thing to make sure it mentioned the new features, the copyright date was 2013, etc. Still, there was that niggling thought in the back of my head "Why do they have this out so early?" I certainly hope for their sake they aren't trying to deliberately rip customers off by repacking the old disc and that this is just simply an error. Still, like you say, this is the same company that put old versions of Superman in the 2006 DVD box set and left off the Judy Garland documentary on Easter Parade, so it's par for the course I guess.

I have sent an e-mail to Warner Bros customer service to see what they're going to do for me, I really do not feel like trying to explain all this to some goofball employee at Best Buy.

Best Buy will normally take it back without too much hassle if you are just exchanging it for another copy of the same sku item.

I bought the steelbook Sherlock Holmes from Best Buy when I heard it had the updated version with Jared Harris' voice, but when I got home it was the old disc. I took it back and they exchanged it for another copy no questions asked. The feature I exchanged it for wasn't even advertised on the packaging, so I assume they would give you even less of a hassle since you can actually point to items on the packaging that aren't on the disc.

Yes, but the point I'm getting at is I'm pretty sure ALL the copies they had in stock are the old discs. I'm not going to exchange for the same SKU when I'll just end up with another copy of the old disc. Seeing as it's two weeks away from the supposed release date of this disc, I'm waiting to see what Warner's response is. If they're the ones who issued this thing with the wrong discs and/or the wrong artwork (whether intentionally or not) - I shouldn't have to drive to the other side of the city and make the effort of returning the item, Warners should be the ones dealing with that issue and sending me the correct disc in the mail.

I don't think they advertised that release of The Fugitive as being the new one. They are however misleading people by putting the new cover art on it. The 20th anniversary edition doesn't come out til September so it was wishful thinking for you to expect it to be included here, especially when dealing with Warner.

This is the release in question. It came out August 20th, along with several other re-releases branded for the Warner 90th ann. It's pretty shady if done on purpose. They've done something similar in Australia, where they put out a new version of Casablanca with the 70th anniversary artwork, but it was the older release instead.

Edit
: Sorry, I just read your earlier post. Does it really advertise the 20th anniversary and/or new special features on the back of it? If so, then you certainly are entitled to the new disc, and it is an error on their part.

Yes, it advertises the new special features on the back (the new documentary, and the pilot of the 2000 TV Series), along with the heading that it is newly remastered. It was because I saw these that I presumed it was the new release. Like I said earlier, I knew this is supposed to come out on Sept 3rd and seeing as all of the other titles in the display were re-releases, I was wary. It was the info on the packaging that compelled me to buy it.

Got my copy already, attended a 20th anniversary screening on the Warner Bros lot in Burbank. Before the screening there was a Q&A panel featuring the producer Arnold Kopelson, Director Andrew Davis, Sela Ward, a few of the actors who played the marshals.

I also assumed that you posted it because it was an upcoming AU disc.

And it does state that it has DTS-HD master audio. I just picked it up today as well. I'm pretty sure it's the old disc. Haven't had a chance to check it out yet. Warner is going to have a bit of a problem on their hands if they are all like this.
