Even though I disagree about anything he has done being generic, I am more curious which you are referring to actually? Dragon Tattoo and Gone Girl? My need for clarification is due to the fact that I consider The Social Network to be his masterpiece so I was wondering if you meant that as well. |

Thanks for the response, and you are absolutely entitled to your opinion. I was just curious, I appreciate it. Gone Girl is about a lot more than a girl vanishing technically, assuming they go a similar direction as the book. I know they said they are changing the end of it, but I assume the main spirit of the story will remain the same. |

I like how the trailers for Fincher's movies don't pander to everybody.
It's almost as if his movies are made for his fans and he isn't willing to sacrifice integrity for mass appeal. If I didn't know who Fincher was or aware of his style I probably wouldn't think much of his movie's trailers. I know a lot of people wrote off The Social Network as a dumb looking Facebook movie after the trailer came out. It's difficult trying to imagine myself removed from being a fan. The same goes for seeing a Tarantino or Scorsese flick. I feel as if you get the most out of them having that adjusted mindset of what to expect stylistically and what to appreciate. I remember seeing Kill Bill in theater and there were a few older couples in the crowd. I distinctly recall them badmouthing the movie as they were walking out. |
