The only Blufans Marvel release I intentionally skipped was the first Avengers movie because it sticks out like a sore thumb.
Painted art posters were very popular before the 90s and I think most of these types of things are trying to recapture that. I know Scream Factory and Arrow try to capture that in their new covers for example. However most of them screw it up, for a variety of reasons. Looking too "comic booky" is one way, also having too much clutter. In the end I'd take the original poster 99 times out of 100 with rare exceptions like The Fog and Pumpkinhead.

Could one of you recap the packaging options for the US market?

Is there a slip with the standard release? Does the BBY exclusive steel include a slip as well?

Scream and Arrow do incredible covers.

These other ones that I see most of the time can sometimes be cool, but look like a more 'painty comic book cover' than anything. That's sort of a turn off, at least for me.

I mean I like the art as art, but I dont prefer them on my disc cases.

Well agree to disagree

There's just something about them that never makes them work like a classic art cover, with rare exception. I always flip them.

I always flip them too, as I also prefer original art. However, getting their discs early provide the best of both worlds. Commissioned art on the slips, original on the case itself. Love it!

Best Buy's 4k Steelbooks have a bad habit of redeeming HD instead of UHD. Does anyone know if this has been remedied yet ?

Bill Hunt has deflated my anticipation a bit in writing that this release features a restrained HDR color grade, dynamic range opened up only just a little bit more for UHD, grain structure becoming a little more apparent, and colors only a bit more richer. It also features only one new featurette. Oh well, I held off on the Cinema Series so at least have the ATMOS track to look forward to hearing.

If you held off on the cinema series then this will be a revelation.

Restrained suits me fine, I watched The Amazing Spider-Man the other night and the HDR grade just pissed me off with its heavy-handedness.

"OOOOH, LOOK AT THE LIGHTING ON SPIDEY'S SUIT!"

Yeah, problem is that I'm now looking at this huge shiny patch on his face, and not actually watching the scene in question.

I can't see on which set-up he watched, so I'll take the review with a huge grain of salt.

I have a quick solution. Don't get the Steelbook.

Same and agreed 100%.
The overhanded egotistical asshat also gave other shit a glowing recommendation. I'd rather wait for users on here who appreciate 4K remasters on UHD with proper HDR and IDGAF about Bill Hunt's reviews on anything.
[Show spoiler]That f*cker needs to get off his pedestal.

(Gary Tooze on DVDBeaver is still okay though but seriously needs to update how he does comparisons. Caps-a-Holic is still great.)

Wondering if the Gaumont transfer is still worth buying. Asking you dudes on THIS forum.

Speaking of set-up, though I'm not a fan of wordy sigs, it'd be nice to see everyone's here.

Generally, I don't put all my faith in any single review.

Sony X800 and Panny UB900 players into a Sony 65ZD9, with correct calibration for greyscale, colour temperature and gamut tracking in both SDR and HDR.

Mine has just been shipped from the US to Europe.

My 4K gear:

Sony 65ZD9 (ISF pro calibrated for SDR, while using Geoff's settings for HDR, with all dynamic picture enhancers set to off) + Sony X800, in a dark room with no ambient light.

Sony 75X940D (DIY basic calibration without measurements for SDR and HDR, with all dynamic picture enhancers set to off) + Panasonic UB900, in a dark room with very low ambient light.

The only pop art I bought was Inferno. I thought it was an interesting steelbook cover with color choices that caught my eye. Also, the figure in the middle just sold it for me.

If this cover that you presented was on a steelbook, it would be a buy for me. Don't care for the one that's available. Then again, that's just my opinion. If people like it, go for it.

I always find it interesting Sonys home video art department continually use those action gun aiming pics of Dallas that in the actual movie refer to a portion of opera house fight scene being deleted; we never know how and when his shirt sleeves get ripped off.
