Whether those were new 4K transfers already, I do not know, but do I expect the UHDs to look at least like the latest (German) StudioCanal releases and think/hope that the UHDs will therefore destroy my US BDs at any rate (never upgraded the BDs). If it gets even better than this, the better.

I believe the German has the same transfer as the Canadians and they look solid. I would be more than pleased if they used the same transfers as the base with DV.

I’m really looking forward to these in 4K. Been a long time since I’ve seen these. 2 and 4 are my favorites although First Blood is infinitely quotable.

The German Blu-ray covers and the original poster artworks from Struzan/Casaro are perfect.

I like the overall pricing for Lionsgate's UHD catalog, but the more pessimistic part of me is worried about the quality of the transfers.

Hoping Wal-Mart does a cheap trilogy release like they did for Expendables. I am dying to get my hands on these!

For absolutely no reason whatsoever.

And please refrain from bringing up T2 like it's some blanket representation of ALL their releases, since it's the one huge anomaly out of a very solid catalog.

This seems unnecessarily dismissive. LG hasn’t exactly been consistent with the quality of their UHDs. These, Halloween, and The Evil Dead all seem like a bit of a gamble. We really don’t know what we’re getting yet.

Your eye-roll was actually very helpful. Full of facts and figures that reassured me that my pessimism was entirely misplaced. Thank you. I will never again doubt your eye-roll. It's my new guiding force.

Dude Lionsgate has released a ton of poor UHDs that use film-outs instead of the DI or negative scan. 3:10 to Yuma and Lincoln Lawyer looked so bad I sold them, Dredd is disappointing and there's probably more from genres I don't care about.

The only other one I'm aware of is Kick-Ass. Four is hardly "a ton" and I'm with Mr Motel on this one, Lionsgate have picked up this terribad rep on UHD but only for a literal handful of errors while they've routinely been putting extras on UHD discs, providing Dolbys Vision and Atmos on a regular basis and have used more 100GB discs than Fox, Disney and Paramount put together. Yes, they've gone a bit DNR crazy on recent releases like Source Code and Transporter 3 but then they go and produce a nicely filmic representation of the timeless cinematic classic that is Van Wilder. Heh.

I'll be giving them the benefit of the doubt when it comes to Halloween, Evil Dead, Punisher and American Psycho and I've put my money where my mouth is by preordering every one. Helps that they didn't cost a lot of money, mind you

I have a good feeling about these. Don’t know why but I think they’ll be ok.

I'm getting these regardless. I apologize for even expressing one second of doubt.

That price point makes them irresistible, as I usually wait a few weeks to snag my 4K's on ebay for under $20USD.

The Punisher is going to be the deciding factor for me. If it is absolutely horrible then I am not likely to pursue Rambo 1-3 unless I get a hell of a deal.
