Spot on

I do wanna clarify that I ended up enjoying WW84 way more than I thought I would after that ghastly CG overload of the first reel or two, I was staring dumbstruck at the screen at how bad it was, the whole mall scene felt like I was watching a parody skit and I'm not kidding or exaggerating. But it's actually the time spent with the characters that I enjoyed far more than when it decides to attempt an 'action scene' and just throws loads more awful CG at us. Though most people seem to be complaining about all the pesky talky bits (don't they always, see: Guardians 2) so obviously I'm one of the kooky ones

I am now fully expecting the mall scene to feel like a derivative of Stranger Things S3, if such a thing is even possible.

Wow! This movie wasn’t good

I would have been pissed if my wife and I made an evening out of seeing this in a theater with getting a babysitter and dinner

Ha. I had a similar response, though to me if felt like I was watching a movie at 60fps. It just had that feel to me. Like "this can't be real."

I will give this another go when the UHD is released and just hope that knowing what I know now I can get a strange enjoyment from it. Also curious to see what a proper UHD can do for that CGI...

That's another thing that made the action look a bit weird, the motion blur of all the CG just didn't seem to track properly. I watched a heavily compressed 4K HDR version to be fair, but there wasn't a trace of any filmic texture left behind and even the 15-perf IMAX stuff looked so flat and 'digital' compared to how it looks on Tenet's UHD. Looks like they didn't even finish it in 1.44 as the 'IMAX' shots are in 1.90.

Looking forward to seeing it again on UHD.

I watched WW84 on HBO Max because 1) Pandemic and 2) the Chris Pine thing looked awful in the trailers. After seeing it, these are the details I didn't like:
[Show spoiler]For plot convenience, the FBI just DROPS OFF evidence from the mall event, with no security, so that anyone in the office could alter/destroy/steal any part of it.
Second, the resolution depends on everyone in the world voluntarily renouncing his or her wish. I can guarantee this would only happen in a kids movie. In real life, there would be millions of dudes walking around with 10-foot erections.
Third, didn't WW lecture Cheetah at the end on getting things honestly? -- like she was supposed to get her fur and super powers through hard work and stick-to-it-ivness. WW: "Cheetahs never prosper."

What were the IMAX scenes supposed to be? I watched the 4K/HDR stream on HBO Max but only noticed the AR change in the opening scene and the final scene.

Only those two. Extra cash grab.

Lame. I thought at least the convoy chase and the climax opened up, and that I must've not noticed.

Plus, In the other DC movies doesn’t she say that she hid from mankind between 1917 and 2017 or so? So WTF? Did she forget about 1984?

Diana definitely wanted to forget 1984. So do we.

A crossover cameo from one or several of the ST characters would not have felt out of place in the least. That's how identical in look and tone that entire sequence truly is. Much as I enjoy nostalgia culture at times, the period setting here ultimately feels pointless.

Just how nobody caught this huge flaw is beyond comprehension!

She does hide. She disables security cameras, she tells children to keep her existence a secret... I'm sure part of the reason they set it in 1984 is because it was before phones were ubiquitous, so she could actually maintain a degree of anonymity and essentially be an urban legend.

The 80s aren’t the dark ages, I doubt it would be that easy to hide from recordings.

This. Patty Jenkins did admit that she kinda retconned Diana walking away from humanity for 100 years - I think her demeanour in BvS strongly implies that she hasn't donned the outfit in a longggggg time - but at the same time, I think little things like her taking out the security cameras were inserted as a compromise so you can interpret it either way if you wish.

Default Hey you! Who said that? Baby, how you been?

This film really missed the mark on 80's music... or more like the lack thereof. But a glaring omission being set in '84 is the non use of the mighty Van Halen's album of same year, 1984. WW might as well...

Yeah I can still buy that the world doesn't really know about her. What I cannot believe happened was the continuity break about her training in the beginning of the film. Did patty just forget what happened in the first film or something?!?!? That's wild.

They already retconed it with Justice League. And how this was done seemed to line up with that, when Batman criticizes her for just walking away from a century of struggle because of her grief over Steve, and Diana responds along the lines of “I operated in the shadows, but when I was needed, I fought”.
