I'd pay $50 for even a bare bones 4K Blu right now.

I'm really tired of waiting for this movie, there is no way in heck I am going to a movie theater anytime in the next year even if it does come out there.

I've got mixed feelings on this. I'm disappointed they don't want to wait until it's safe to release it, but I'm happy that I won't have to avoid spoilers for months until it comes out on home video to see it, since there's no way you'd catch me in a movie theater right now.

agreed, but what if things still aren't better even by May? This movie has been 100% done for over a year now i believe, got to get that money back asap and hope for good blu-ray sales. we will see if black widow goes this way with disney+

Very true. This is a situation where there are no great choices, and this probably the safest bet. And things could always be worse (WB could've tried to pull off a Tenet-style stunt again, God forbid), so I'm not gonna complain that they made the choice to cut their losses and do this instead.

The only "loss" WB is currently experiencing is the interest expense on the production by delaying the movie (along with any previous marketing expenses). The interest expense is shared with the other production partners:

Atlas Entertainment
DC Comics
DC Entertainment
The Stone Quarry

Once the movie hits theaters, that's when the "accounting clock" starts and that's when either profits or losses begin. Marketing expenses (and interest carry expenses) are written off as a cost of doing business.
