Simply because they're completely dissimilar and by virtue should not be a gut wrenching decision. MP shooter vs. RPG.

Dragon Age CE is due to be delivered to my home tomorrow, I believe. I have no interest in MW2. I haven't played a good, true RPG since BG2, and I am not a fan of military shooters, so for myself, it wasn't even a question. I duked it out a little bit between DA:Origins and Demon's Souls, though. I could have purchased both, but I just don't have enough game playing time. Since November a year ago, I've played Drake's Fortune, Fallout 3, Dead Space, Bioshock and Among Thieves. I played almost nothing during the summer, just because of other interests. I'm dabbling in Borderlands right now, but it's not really turning me on, thus the Dragon Age purchase.

This game is simply amazing. I've been playing it nonstop. I already am looking forward to a sequel for it. I know that is hasty, but I love these types of RPGs. I really wish the industry hadn't gone so shooter heavy. There are only so many ways to shoot something. At least I think there is...

Well, shooters are fun. I completely understand the appeal. But I need a story and some atmosphere to go with it.

I don't know how well this sold on the PS3 platform, but I think a sequel largely depends on that. I hope DA:O lives up to my expectations. Uncharted 2 was awesome, and I played it 3+ times through in the last month. I'm still tempted to play some more, just for the A/V experience. I'm feeling a little bit empty inside right now.

First ill put it in perspective, you asked me Would you like a million in gold, a million in dollars, or a million in diamonds.

I would say gold as it has ever so increasing value, and cod is like diamonds, expensive and pretty to look at but sold at a loss in value and is really only meant for a specific group, one that im not a member of.

And trust me Im biting my tongue as im writing that.

I like the game but is this really how it is..

you can't level your character, farming wise. I want to find someone I stand no chance against go farm and come back and have a shot.

again I can't farm gold to buy that badass equipment..

I guess it's just me but I want an a RPG where I stand no chance against certain foes until I get up to a certain level/armor. I like starting out as a puz and developing into a beast.

I totally agree. I keep seeing all these awesome 100 gold + items and it's like... well how the hell can I farm for that ? Nothing re spawns and there's no where to grind, my number one pet peeve with this game.

Number 2 is that everything is closed off with invisible barriers and travel is map click. The game is a little too linear. It should have been an open world with explorable areas.

And I'm the opposite. RPGs which require you to farm just to progress in the main story drive me nuts.

Have side enemies which require farming, but don't even think about putting it in the main storyline.

Travel across the world map you get ambushed quite often great place to farm..

I have to admit I just went through 90 gold.. didn't help that I donated 50 gold coins to the army donation box.. donating gives you experience points, after you recruit the elfs you can exchange elfroot and deathroot and such for experience points, mages take master runes for expereience points, and the arls troops take gold for experience points.

Chantry board quests start giving out 1-3 gold coins per quest, some of the equipment you pick up can easily go for 85 silver to 2 gold..

Essentially the game worlds economy is not based on farming its based on quests and selling loot, the economy is a little more balanced in my opinion.

You have the chantly board, you have irregulars, you have the 'other mage guys', companion quests, citizen personal quests, codex quests - these are quests mentioned in books or notes that you can complete..

The further you go the more gold and worth of the loot as well, I advise purchasing backpacks when you can they are very helpful.

Sacred 2 was more about farming, this game is sorta the polar opposite.

Completely agree. In the main story, if I can't advance at a natural pace, the game gets plodding, and I get bored. This is especially true, if you want to play through more than once. I'm not likely to play again, if it was tedious. And respawns can drive you insane, as well. Especially in areas of a map that require frequent traversal.

I'm a little bit torn on the open world concept. It can be addicting, and I like the opportunity to deviate from the main story for a change of pace to pursue quests in the larger world. But it can also make for an overwhelming experience. Lots of time spent wandering around just to explore but without much merit when it's all said and done. The main reasons I can't make myself go back and play Fallout 3 with the new content is the need to invest so much time just reexposing the map while at the same time having to battle all of the nuisance inhabitants of the map over and over again. It gets too repetetive, and in a game like that, farming is absolutely unnecessary.

What should I do? Amazon just gave me an order update delaying delivery of my Collector's Edition until the 17th (original estimate was today). I have an unopened regular edition sitting here. I was going to return it, as soon as my CE arrived. Is it worth keeping my CE order, or should I just play the regular edition? I will otherwise be playing Borderlands this weekend.

Do any of the local stores have copies of the collector's edition? I had to go to Best Buy to get mine. I ended up cancelling my amazon order.
