I haven't tried pricematching a chcanada.com price (yet) but I have successfully had future shop match an amazon.ca price.

I'm kind of surprised they beat the $13.99 price by 10% though. I was under the impression that they'd include the shipping cost when pricematching as that's only fair really.

same here... i go to the ajax one all the time AND HAVE HAD THE EXACT SAME EXPERIENCES. i've never had a problem with them pricematching any retail store for me, they even made an exception for me ONCE with amazon.ca, but i have previously asked them about chcanada and they said no sorry we wont price match them bcuz they have to have a retail outlet store. but i guess i could go in and ask again. i think its bcuz the richmond hill one in prob under diff management or staff are trained differently thats why they will do it for vesh there and not me here.

Anyone notice a lack of updates on available titles lately??

Also, is it just me or have they removed the option to cancel the directors selection online?

okay so i went to futureshop today... i was planning to pick up the bourne trilogy on blu-ray and get it price-matched for the $64.97 chcanada has it for. the futureshop guy looked into it for me and said they do not price-match chcanada. now for arguments sakes i told him i had somebody tell me here that they did in fact get chcanada price-matched from futureshop at those $13.99 titles. he said that whoever did it for the person messed up and didnt know what they were doing and so the person got lucky and shouldnt expect that same treatment next time they go there. he even went so far as to show me their specific policy and what the exceptions are:

Our Lowest Price Guarantee does not apply to advertising errors or misprints, special educational prices, restricted offers, mail order offers, rebates, coupons, premiums, free or bonus offers, OEM products, limited or minimum quantity or limited time offers, close-outs, liquidations, clearances, and special financing offers.

--> you see where it says "mail and orders" thats exactly what chcanada is and thus they do not pricematch them and thats the final word on that just for any of you wondering about or thinking about trying your luck. i even went to bestbuy just for the heck of it to see if theyd do it for me, and they were even rude about it. didnt even bother to explain it to me like the futureshop guy, they just said: "go buy it from there"

which is prob what i'm going to do now seeing as how it is the best price i can find on it.

Yeah, the only way to get Chcanada price matched is if you go to someone who does not know what they are doing, or someone who is young. If you go to the manager or something they will instantly tell you to go away.

Best Buy is always rude.

Speaking of walmart, I went to my walmart in Pickering and the Blu ray selection was awful. Two weeks ago they had over a hundred titles. Tonight they had maybe around 40.

yes, i've actually noticed that too. starting after Christmas time i've begun to see a dramatic decrease of blu-ray titles in almost every wal-mart i go to. and now the most i've seen are like kyot said... 40-50. anybody know whats up with that?

I noticed the same thing too. I wanted Office Space on Blu-Ray and could not see it in the Blu-Ray section. But if you do a search for it you will find it.

i did cancel the Febuary director selection online though.

I find that the Blu-Ray section of the site to be weak. It seems to be an aftertought. Even if i am a member of the Blu-Ray club, I only receive info about promotions on DVDs.

Anyway I still can't complain. I got 23 movies from them for 300$ (Shipping and taxes included) Can't beat that. Waiting for the next free shipping offer.

Yeah they don't add as many as quick as I would like either.

I don't believe there is a "Blu-ray club". There is just a DVD club from what I can tell.

Office Space is there - I got it from them.

They really need to improve their search and filter tools though. There should be an easy way to get the list of newly added Blu-rays or at least sort just Blu-rays by release date.

Although I can't complain either. I've got over 40 Blu-rays from them averaging something like $13 total each.

As it stands now, Columbia House is covering just under 1/2 of my Blu-ray release wants and for really decent prices. I still haven't found the ideal place to get the other 1/2 I want though.

Amazon.ca is usually the cheapest but still their prices are much higher than what I'm used to paying from amazon.com in the last 2 years. I just keep a list now and hunt for sales on them. The only ones I have been buying at full price are the ones I really, really want.

I agree with you. I try to hunt down the bargains for the movies I can't find on Columbia House. I will pay full price for movies like Gladiator and Braveheart for example...whenever they come out.

There is a reason I mentionned the Blu-Ray club. When I received a notice that I will not receive a movie that is out of stock, I called to order another movie instead. After insisting a couple of times to make sure she sends me the movie on Blu-Ray and not DVD, the woman told me: "You are a member of the Bu-Ray club, so we will send you the Bu-Ray automatically"

That is why I assumed they we're 2 different clubs.

That's interesting. When you login to the website does it say "Blu-ray club" any where under your account info or elsewhere? If I could get them to change my default to be Blu-ray that would be great. I don't see Blu-ray mentioned anywhere like that though anywhere on their site - it just says DVD Club.

In case anyone wasn't aware Columbia House is having their buy one at regular price and get as many as you want at half price. Shipping is 1.99 each. One caveat. It will charge you full price for your most expensive title. Kind of sucks since I wanted to get Close Encounters, but didn't want to pay 45$. Oh well maybe they'll have another deal where I can get that one.

For those having trouble finding Blu-rays I found an easy solution. Just put in "blu-ray" into the search field and it will show all the blu-rays. They can then be organised by release date or title. I found it quite easy.

I just got my first order of Pineapple Express and Lakeview terrace today. It was packaged a bit oddly but I'll be buying from them again.
