I was only able to afford Season 4.5 on Blu Ray at the Present Time.
However I have Series 1 thru 3(and the Mini Series/Razor Double Dips).

Since it had been a little while since I had seen Season 4.0 I thought I would re-watch it to get ready for Season 4.5.The Picture Quality and Audio Quality between the Standard DVD's and the Blu Rays are Like Night and Day.

Yes on the Blus there are scenes with the intentional grain(which it clearly states at the start of Season 4.5's 1st Disc).
But after seeing the difference I do want the entire set in Blu.

But I thought I would just voice an opinion on how much of a difference I saw in the two types of discs.

The cases aren't perfect, but functional. They are paper, yet very slick/grossy and relatively sturdy. My Discs are in excellent condition and not too hard or easy to get out, which is good to keep them protected and sturdy. I took the four season boxes and put it on the shelf with the other Blu-rays, behind Band of Brothers and in front of Blow. The box is too big for most shelves and akward.

If there were a easy and inexpensive way to get 6 disc Blu-ray cases in the U.S. , I'd consider a transfer.

Just pulled the trigger and ordered the set from DeepDiscount using the SUPERSALE coupon. It came out to $169 and free shipping. Now I just need to wait for it to be in stock since it's backordered.

Posing a general audio question to people who have bought this set, and perhaps the DVDs.

There's an ongoing issue I've had with the DVD set and now the Blu Rays, and maybe it's due to my receiver calibration (optical out of the PS3 into a Pioneer VSX-815) is that the music track by and large seem to be buried under an an overly aggressive front center track.

Now some of that I think is the mixing for home video (for instance, SPOILER ALERT ,
[Show spoiler]the scene in which Anders shuts down the Colony's hybrids
in "Daybreak" blasted out the Final Five theme during the broadcast version over all the other sound elements in that scene, but the video version keeps it relatively subdued, with the ambient noise and the Hybrid's rambling in the audio forefront), but there are countless other scenes where the music just doesn't seem loud enough (or is getting lost in the mix).

Has anyone else noticed this, or am i crazy?

For people who bought this set and don't like the packaging, please log in complaints about this set at their website.

I didn't mind the outer box too much, but the individual season boxes is terrible. I mentioned to them that if the set is $200, people expect to be able to access the discs easily and not have it scratching against the cardboard. Plus, you can't even see what's on each disc without having to remove it.

I'm fine with the boxset and the cases that the discs are in. I know that if they release it again by season on blu-ray I will most likely throw down money and get those too. I love the show so much

I asked on the insider forum but how do the season break down if season 4.3 is out, why the .3 designation? And will the other seaons be released individually because I can't afford the big lump sum right now even at $169 from Deep Discount.

Finally picked up my copy - couldn't hold out any longer! Me being a big Blu-ray buyer and BSG being my favorite show ever I just had to have my precious now.

The packaging is interesting. For now I'm just going to put the 4 season packs on my shelf since it is already overflowing with Blu-rays. Once I get another shelf I'll put it all back in the box. The action figure seems to be pretty cheapy but it's a nice touch in the box I guess.

Haven't got to watch any yet but that's pretty much all I care about anyway. I don't think I've ever seen a single episode in HD since it was only on Space TV in Canada which is only SD (and crappy SD at that on my cable).

66 hours of HD goodness will be better than Christmas though

4.5, not 4.3. Seasons 2 and 4 were each released in two halves--season 2.0/2.5 and season 4.0/4.5. (They did this because of the long six-plus month hiatuses midseason)

Season 2.0 contains episodes 201-210. Season 2.5 contains the extended cut of 210, and 211-220. Season 4.0 includes Razor (401-402) and episodes 403-412. Season 4.5 includes episodes 413-423 (423 is "Daybreak, Part III").

No official announcements have been made, except perhaps for in Australia. That said, even if they combined 2.0 and 2.5, and released 1, 2, 3, and 4.0 at the same price as 4.5 despite containing more content, you're still looking at $200 discounted once you've bought them all.

I want it too. I saw it today at Best Buy when I went to pick up Taken. I had it in my hands, but couldn't pull the trigger yet since I can't afford it right now.

True, but you don't have to buy all of the seasons at once, and they'd likely fit on the shelf better than the big cube or box that holds the complete series.

True to the former; I'm just trying to point out that if you don't buy now, you're looking at a higher outlay later.

As for the latter--well, only if you insist on shoving the entire case up there, and not just the four subcases for each season!

Default Audio problem on Disc 2-3-4 of season 1

Hi,

Anyone has problem with the DTS-HD MA tracks on blu-ray disc 2, 3 and 4 of season 1 ?
For the rest of the package i have'nt any other audio tracks issues.
I tested all the blu-ray discs and they are fine.
But for some kind wierd, the three discs 2-3-4 of season 1 play an horrible noisy sound. Have to patch it throught PCM in order to listen to them......
Try them on Samsung BD-1400, Dune BD Prime, and on my LGGCWH20L on PC.

Thanks for your help.
Jacques

I'm confused about something. Does each disk in the 'BSG' collection insert into a poly-sleeve-lined cardboard case for protection, or are they sliding against a bare cardboard surface?

I know Blu-ray has a protective scratch/scuff-resistant layer, but the idea of these disks making direct contact with rough cardboard liners still makes me uneasy.

The answer is door #2...

"are they sliding against a bare cardboard surface"

It's bare cardboard, but it's covered in a glossy coat, so I wouldn't call it "rough".

Sounds workable, but when I get this set I'm gonna transfer all 20 disks into those thin plastic keepcases I buy at WM.

Thanks for the info!
