Kind of off topic but she had never seen any and I mean any of the Star Wars films. I made her watch all six in order. I almost left her when I found that out. JK.

I humbly suggest that if more people did the same we might actually start seeing enjoyable, thought provoking films again.

Until then I'll stick to watching foreign films or the occasional Hollywood flick that doesn't look like cookie cutter crap custom tailored to morons.

Does that answer your question?
not all sequels are crap though

empire strikes back
dark knight
the second two lord of the rings (if you count those as seperate movies)
godfather 2 (i dont like it but many do)
terminator 2
rocky II

i was never one to care if its a sequel/remake/adaptation/whatever
if its a good movie (to me) its a good movie and i enjoy it
both thinking man's movie and a just purely action popcorn movie

now reboots i dont like if the other series has just ended
if its 10 or 20 years later, sure, if it is something that needs it/could benefit from it
like comic book movies for example
but things like star wars, karate kid, etc. dont need to ever be rebooted
because frankly the story is how it is, can't/shouldn't be told another way

now thats all strictly opinion, i'm not trying to say you're wrong for not wanting to pay to see any of the kinds of movies you described, its your prerogative after all

I listen to reviews if they are all negative then I may rethink my decision, but I did not look at any for T4. I was pleasantly surprised how good a film this was, I think it was awesome.

So Beast, I don't think you ever said, but have you seen it yet?

I'll give you a brief summary of my thoughts on the movie. It met my expectations. It had great action scenes in it that, while far fetched, were still very well done. I was disappointed by the soundtrack. I thought everybody played their parts very well.
[Show spoiler]Loved how they picked a person to play Reese that looked like a mix between the emo Connor from part two and a younger version of Reese from part one.

This was the big movie I was looking forward to, having grown up watching the original two Terminators. I was thoroughly disappointed in part 3. It was absolute garbage to me.

Aside from
[Show spoiler]McG's pretentious presentation of his own name with 'trendy' parenthesis and a semi colon at the end of his name during the opening credits, a few cheesy lines, and a less than great soundtrack,
this movie breathed fresh air into the franchise and was definitely worth the price of admission. I will definitely be picking this one up on Blu-ray.

Empire, LOTR, Godfather etc. aren't sequels they are part of a trilogy who's story was conceived at the same time, not in some exec's office in an attempt to cash in on the summer season. See the difference?

You'll also notice that the truly good sequels (Aliens, T2 etc.) were all created years after the original. Not year after year ad naseum.

Can't wait for "Terminator 14: Rise of the ah, who cares, just go see it again like the lemmings you are" oh and hey, don't forget to get the super size Terminator Cup at your local Burger King!

So why, when Star Wars came out in theaters, did it not right off the bat say 'Episode 4'? I could have sworn Lucas said he came up with the idea of a sequel after the fact. I could be wrong.

About the ONLY reason to see this is that it's the last movie the dearly departed and genius extraordinaire Stan Winston worked on. With his passing we'll only be left with non-stop CGI garbage

The point is the story was all conceived by the same guy in a relatively short span of a few years (I think originally he foresaw 9 films total) not by some guy who's script they merely picked out of a pile.

Don't get me wrong, I liked Terminator and T2. I also really like Bale (I loved American Psycho).

I may one day even end up renting this.

But I just can't get over the prevalent mentality of people going to see a sequel a) just to see if it's better than the last one or b) shocked when they are disappointed.

As for comparing it to Aliens. Yeah... no. Sorry, not a chance in hell.

Without Bale sticking his nose in, the film probably would be been much better.

Comparing it to the two crap Matrix films is right on the money. Hopefully T5 is terminated.

Maybe they can come back to it without McG and especially without "Batman Growl" Bale.
it was better than T3 and T1. It wasnt as good as T2 but that isn't a bad thing.

No but it was written by the same person.

Just because one further refines their statement in an attempt to promote understanding shouldn't leave one open to ridicule by people who are merely trying to be annoying.

And seeing as you're so concerned about the verbatim of what one posts....IT'S SPELLED MEANT NOT MENT!

so first you said they had to be written at the same time, then in the span of a couple of years, and now only by the same person.

Nope. First I responded by saying I didn't consider certain films to be sequels and why, and then I responded to a question as to the origin of Star Wars, and then I got into a pissing match with you. Is that clear or should I type slower?
